‘Cobra Kai’ Star Ralph Macchio’s Thoughts On Working With Daughter Julia
It’s another first for The Karate Kid star Ralph Macchio. His 29-year-old daughter, Julia, appeared on the latest season of the Netflix hit Cobra Kai. It was their first time working together. So, what does Ralph think of the experience? Keep reading to find out more.
Ralph Macchio shares thoughts on working with his daughter
People shared what 60-year-old Ralph Macchio had to say about working with his daughter Julia in the latest season of Cobra Kai. Julia appears in Season 4, Episode 8 with her good ol’ dad. On the show, she’s actually portraying Daniel LaRusso’s cousin, Vanessa LaRusso.
During the episode, Vanessa gives Daniel and his wife Amanda played by Courtney Henggeler a quick lesson in parenting. Daniel and Amanda get defensive at the suggestion that they may be making mistakes with their son Anthony who has recently gotten into trouble.
On the show, Vanessa said, “This reaction is at the root of the problem. You’re acting out. I can prove it with a simple test: Now why do you think you love your daughter more than your son?”
Ralph loved working Julia on Cobra Kai. He said, “She knocked it out of the park.” He continued, “I was the proud father on set that day. As soon as she ran our first take, everybody was like, ‘Holy crap, she’s got this character.'”
Ralph also said Julia being on Cobra Kai was “the icing on the cake [and] the cherry on top.” He continued saying, “It was certainly a highlight for me in season 4 and just a joy I’ve had that opportunity. Julia showed up for her old man.”
Julia has always wanted to act
She noted that she’s always been drawn to acting. She said, “It’s something that I have wanted to do since as long as I can remember.” She continued, “I don’t think there was ever really a moment where I thought of doing anything else. I used to act out Disney movies in our house. It was something that was in my blood.”
Julia did say at times it could be challenging growing up as The Karate Kid’s daughter but she’s thankful Ralph was there for her. She went on to say that he was always grounded but also knew so much about the acting world. He always gave her advice and she was very excited to work on Cobra Kai.
Just like Ralph, Julia knows how important Mr. Miyagi is. When she finished her part on the show she took a selfie with her dad wearing a Mr. Miyagi shirt. It was a nod to the character played by the late Pat Morita.
Julia captioned the photo saying, “After I wrapped with the best dad in the world!” She also added that “(Pat was there with us too ❤️).”
Ralph Macchio has already wrapped filming Season 5 of Cobra Kai. No release date has been set. Season 4 is currently streaming on Netflix.
