Clay Harbor says Andrew Spencer almost The Bachelor

There were tons of fans who were hoping Andrew Spencer would be named the Season 26 Bachelor. Andrew’s cousin and Bachelor in Paradise alum Clay Harbor recently appeared on the She’s All Bach Podcast. He spilled some tea about his popular cousin. It seems wishes were about to come true.

Clay revealed that Andrew Spencer was supposed to be The Bachelor. He said he probably couldn’t say too much but that he and Andrew both thought the job was his. They both thought it was done and in the books. There’s no indication why they changed their minds last minute and decided to go with Clayton.

Clay also revealed that Andrew is still single and if the opportunity presented itself again he believes Andrew would definitely accept The Bachelor gig. He said Andrew is up for it and ready. There was obvious disappointment when Andrew wasn’t named as the official lead for Season 26.

Clay thinks Andrew would be perfect for The Bachelor. He said he has a great personality and is the funniest person he knows.

His time on Katie Thurston’s season

Andrew made his Bachelor Nation debut on Katie Thurston’s season of The Bachelorette. He made it far on her season and everyone believed they would have been a great match. She sent him home just before hometown dates. When he left, fans were devastated as was Katie.  He even left a note for Katie saying, “If you change your mind, I’ll be waiting.” It was at that moment that everyone started crying out for Andrew to get the next leading role.

The professional football player was on everyone’s radar to be The Bachelor. Perhaps he will get a shot when the Season 27 lead is cast. If not, Clay also recently took a shot and tweeted out to current contestant Teddi Wright that he has this cousin.

Clay also shared that if Andrew would have been cast as the lead it would have been nice to have another African-American lead. He said it would have been “great to have an African American Bachelor. We had Matt [James], who’s a mix, biracial. We had Michelle. It would be cool to have a 100 percent African American Bachelor as well. I think that would’ve been a great thing for ABC.”

Clay did commend ABC on the progress they are making with diversity.

What do you think about Andrew almost being named The Bachelor for Season 26?
