Does Taylor Sheridan Already Have ‘Yellowstone’ Ending In His Sights?
Cable television guru, and Yellowstone creator, Taylor Sheridan, already has an end in sight for his Paramount show. It may bring in ginormous numbers comparable to Game of Thrones, but he sees an end in sight.
What do we know about Sheridan’s plans for the end of his hit Western?
When Is Yellowstone Ending?
When Yellowstone Season 4 premiered last month, the Taylor Sheridan-created series enjoyed some phenomenal ratings. However, Sheridan is already thinking about how the series ends.
He recently spoke to the New York Times about the hit series, right before the Yellowstone prequel, 1883 premiered. He is determined to not let the series coast through nine seasons, just to keep collecting paychecks. He already has an ending in mind.
Well, I know how it ends. I’m writing to that ending. There’s only so much hovering one can do before the story starts to lose its locomotion; you can’t put it in neutral just because it’s successful. It will go as many years as it takes for me to tell the story, but you’re not going to see nine seasons of it. No way.
Yellowstone Will Not Reach Season 9
Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan has already drawn the line in the dirt. He will not let the Paramount show reach Season 9. However, that does not necessarily mean it will end with Season 8.
He explained how he approaches his shows in the simplest of terms. “When I write a screenplay, I try to write a book. When I shoot a TV show, I try to shoot a movie.”
Based on the current Season 4 turmoil, we could be halfway through the series now. However, Sheridan has both the new prequel, 1883, and in the future, the 6666 spinoff coming out. That is a lot of writing and storytelling to be had.
That does not mean that 1883, or any of his other projects will last for a lengthy time. As viewers have seen in Yellowstone Season 4, there are flashbacks to the later events of the 1883 characters.
Sheridan has a rich family story to tell, and like a puzzle, he is sharing each bit that connects to the other pieces.
Sheridan Didn’t Write Western For Critics
Over the years, Yellowstone fans may have seen Taylor Sheridan in a cornucopia of projects. He was in Sons of Anarchy, Veronica Mars, and even acted in an episode of Star Trek: Enterprise.
This actor/director/writer/producer has even lived in New York City. Although he admits that he enjoyed it there, that is not what interested him. Sheridan loves the open territory of the West, and that is where his talents shine.
However, he didn’t start out doing it for critics or even audiences. “I’m not making it for them; I’m making it for people who live that life. The audience has expanded beyond that because, you know, a lot of people love westerns.”
Yellowstone airs on Sunday nights at 8 p.m. Eastern, on the Paramount Network.

I have been waiting to see the second half of Yellowstone Season Five for months, I think it is unprofessional of you to leave that series unfinished. I hope you will finish the series. Please and thank you.
