Just days before Christmas, Kevin Wendt took to his Instagram with a harrowing update on his family. According to the BIP alum, the entire family came down with COVID-19 and “it is not taking it easy on any of us.

He shared the news on his Instagram page with a photo of Astrid holding baby August. In a lengthy caption, he detailed the events of the last few days. The sickness began as a “terrible flu” for Astrid. Then August, or ‘Auggy” as his family calls him, developed a fever.

Wendt further revealed that the one-month-old baby had to be hospitalized due to the virus.

Heartbreakingly, the new dad shared that he hasn’t been able to visit his fiance and their son in the hospital. “Because of the new variant and the unknown around transmission, I’ve been staying clear of my little man until my symptoms are gone,” he revealed on Instagram.

Astrid was ‘born to be a mom’

Kevin Wendt’s intention in sharing the news doesn’t appear to be to alarm his followers. Rather, it appears that he wanted to pay tribute to how strong Astrid has been throughout the family crisis.

He wrote that his fiance has been “such a champ” during the ordeal. Astrid “snapped into mama bear mode and never skipped a beat, ” despite being sick herself.

Kevin Wendt ends the post by sharing two things he’s realized over the week of illness in the family. For one thing, August is a “strong boy,” which he jokingly credits to IVF.

Furthermore, Kevin professes that Astrid was “born to be a mom.”
