In November, Bachelor Nation alum Katie Thurston got messy. In celebration of Taylor Swift re-releasing her iconic Red alum, the reality star used the songs to shade some of her exes. On the first of ’12 Days of Messy,’ the song “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” was dedicated to Blake Moynes.
Moynes and Thurston got engaged during Season 17 of the ABC dating competition. However, they split less than three months after the season finale aired.
While days 1 – 10 were aimed at her exes, Katie Thurston saved the 12th day for the new man in her life. Using Swift’s song “Begin Again” on the last day of messy, the reality star revealed a new romance. She’s now dating her former Season 17 suitor John Hersey.
According to Blake Moynes, he found out his former fiance was dating someone new at the same time everyone else did. Fans dragged Katie for not giving Blake a heads up.
On Friday, December 17, she finally broke her silence about the situation. John Hersey took to Reddit at the end of November to defend his lady love.
In a Live video on Hersey’s Instagram, the Bachelorette alum expressed her regret over the ’12 Days of Messy’ posts. “It wasn’t worth it,” she said of the backlash.
However, she doesn’t regret all of her choices surrounding the shady posts.

Sorry, not sorry! While Katie Thurston wouldn’t do ’12 Days of Messy’ again, there is one thing she doesn’t regret. The reality star doesn’t think she was wrong not to give Blake Moynes a heads up about her new romance with John Hersey.
Why not?
According to Katie, the new couple did consider it. However, they ultimately decided not to because they are “normal people” living their lives. How many people give their ex a heads up, she pointed out.
Furthermore, she doubts that giving Blake Moynes a heads up wouldn’t have stopped fans from hating on her and her new man.
How fans doubting her connection with John Hersey made her feel
Bachelor Nation fans thought Katie Thurston and Blake Moynes were the perfect couple. So, the news that she was moving on with someone else was a hard pill for some to swallow. According to Katie, she hated “the amount of people who thought there was no way that John and I could have a connection.”
In fact, that’s why she used the last day of the ’12 Days of Messy’ to make a “big, grand gesture” to show her feelings for Hersey. “John is my world,” she said on the Instagram Live, per E! Online.
