Derick Dillard & Jim Bob Duggar Come Face To Face At Trial
Derick Dillard finally reunited with his father-in-law, Jim Bob Duggar. The two ended up at Josh Duggar’s trial together on Tuesday, December 7. So, what happened during this interaction, and why is it such a big deal?
If you’re a Duggar fan, you likely know about the drama between Jill and Derick and her parents. The couple claimed that they weren’t paid fairly for their time on TLC‘s Counting On. They even had to seek out help from an attorney to get back some of the money.
There may be other things going on behind the scenes that just haven’t become public. But there definitely appears to be some distance between the Dillards and Duggars. Jill previously revealed that she hadn’t been to her parents’ home in a long time. She also made it clear that she has set boundaries, which means her parents aren’t always invited.
Derick has spoken out against his in-laws over the years, and he even teased a tell-all book. Jill has clearly moved on from her upbringing and enjoys making her own rules, from wearing pants to sending her son to public school.
Now, amid all of the drama between the Dillards and Duggars, they have run into each other again.

Surprisingly, Jim Bob showed up in court on Tuesday, December 6 after not being there for the first week. Meanwhile, Derick has been there every day. It’s unclear how long it’s been since Derick has talked to Jim Bob.
The Sun reports that Jim Bob and Derick had a very brief interaction. Jim Bob was approaching Anna and walked past Derick in the process. Jim Bob said, “Hello.” Then, Derick faintly said, “Hi.”
The reporter in the courtroom described the interactions between the family members as “awkward and cold.”
Rather than returning to his seat in the front row with Anna Duggar and Jim Bob. Instead, he moved to the back section and sat with other family members. Many members of the Duggar family made appearances in court on Tuesday. Jana, Jason, Joy-Anna, and Austin were all there, as well as Laura DeMasie, a longtime family friend.

Why would any family members want to go and see him and listen to all those horrific pictures he watched and may have done??
