Christine Brown Admits Split Was A Long Time Coming

Sister Wives star Christine Brown opened up about what may have led to her split from Kody Brown. She shocked fans in November when she announced that they’re filing for divorce after 25 years of marriage. Most didn’t expect Christine to be the first to leave the plural family. However, the latest season of the TLC series shows her under great distress.

In the sneak peek for the new season, she admits that she can’t take it anymore. Fans will eventually learn what was the final straw for the reality star. On Sunday night’s episode, Christine broke down when she realized that they’re never moving back to Utah. Yet, their marriage was already fraught with issues and was crumbling long before.

Kody Brown and Christine Brown privately struggled for years

Sister Wives fans are learning more about Kody and Christine’s marriage this season. Despite putting on a brave face, she’s been struggling behind closed doors. The last straw was when Kody convinced Christine that Arizona was the best place for them to raise their families together. She still had her heart set on Utah, but she didn’t want to talk to him.

“Kody and I are struggling more than ever before,” Christine Brown revealed in her confessional. “The thought of living here on the property and seeing him in full functioning marriages — do I want that? No. The best I can give today is just to pretend.”

Kody apologized to Christine for shutting her down. He admitted that he was only “trying to be stoic,” which wasn’t helping the already tense situation. Even she said that she’s not here for Kody’s apologies. She called “bulls***” on his part and said that he was acting like “an a**.”

Christine made it clear that she no longer wants to live in Utah. She then lost trust in her husband at that moment. She didn’t feel that he was truly sorry. Later on in the conversation, Christine tried to come to terms with why she wanted to move back to Utah since she can’t even visit her father due to the ongoing pandemic.

Christine told Kody that she didn’t want to speak to him at the moment. She was already upset and he was only making it worse. The reality star felt that this was “not a safe conversation anymore.” She walked away in tears.

Sister Wives star doesn’t trust Kody

Christine Brown felt like she could no longer trust Kody. She couldn’t even reach out to him as a “friend.” The mom of six no longer had a say in this matter. She felt that she was at “a bit of a crossroads” with this situation.

Later on in the episode, Christine revealed that she’s traveling with the former couple’s daughter, Ysabel, who needed surgery in New Jersey. Christine and her children would have to quarantine for over six weeks due to the pandemic restrictions. But Kody didn’t want to go. Though he wasn’t there to support his child, Christine was secretly relieved by his decision.

“Kody and I are not getting better,” she admitted. “It’s been bad for a long time. I would love it if Kody could come for Ysabel’s sake, but for me, I don’t care that he’s not going to be there. I think us being separated for this month might be good.”
