Mýa Discusses Her Role As Abby In My Christmas Melody

Recently, Mýa spoke to Vibe about her new Lifetime Christmas movie. They asked the singer-actress why Abby did not “pursue a lawsuit with Casey,” the artist who stole her song?

She explained that her situation was now bigger. Abby had to be there for the school, her mom, and most of all the kids. Moreover, Mýa explained how important art is to young people.

“She understands that art saves lives. She understands how much she really loves music, even though she’s been through one thing that was very, very devastating. But imagine all the different lives and careers and spirits that you can affect.”

It also sounds like that there were lots of laughs on set. Calling the filming of this movie “a great experience,” she shared that Michael Kennedy was “so hilarious and pleasant to work with.” In addition, Mýa’s co-star, Rainbow Sun Francks was also “hilarious.”

Why The Quarantine Prepared Mýa For Music In Lifetime Movie

At the time that they filmed this movie in Toronto, there was a mandatory two-week quarantine. That was a breeze for Mýa. She utilized her time wisely.

Because she was singing “new compositions” written by Phil Giffin, she figured this was an opportunity to prepare. So, Mýa brought in recording equipment, and went to work. She recorded all of her vocals and backgrounds.

Calling this a “really interesting quarantine,” this became a normal recording session. It also helps that she loves to record.

Moreover, when it came down to filming, she already knew the songs by heart. Therefore, she was set to focus on her role as Abby.

Don’t miss the premiere of My Christmas Melody on Sunday, December 5, at 8 p.m. Eastern, on the Lifetime Channel.
