It’s been a wild ride for former Bachelor Colton Underwood. He made his Bachelor Nation debut when he appeared on Hannah Brown’s season of The Bachelorette. Fans fell in love with him and he got his chance at being The Bachelor. He ultimately had the famous jump the fence scene to chase after Cassie Randolph. After they broke up, Colton went through a rough time. He even stalked her and forced her to place a restraining order against him. Then, the shocking news that Colton was gay came out. Now, he has a new documentary detailing him coming out. He’s also now revealing how hard it was to deny his sexuality and the extreme measures he took to hide it.

Page Six shared what Colton Underwood had to say about his struggle to come out. One thing that he now admits is that he turned to abusing prescription medication to try and suppress who he really was. Colton admitted to he abused Xanax in order to try and deny who he is.

He said, “I was suppressing my sexuality so hard that I was taking medication daily to deal with depression and anxiety, and that made me a paranoid freak.”

Colton also said, “I didn’t trust a whole lot of people, and I was trying to do anything and everything I could to protect a secret.”

He tried to take his own life

Colton also reveals for the docuseries Coming Out Colton that he hit rock bottom at one point. In fact, Colton admits that following his breakup with Cassie Randoph in early that he took too many Xanax pills. He was hoping by taking so many he would not wake up the following morning. Thankfully, he did.

He admits he didn’t handle the headlines well when he and Cassie split. Colton also dropped to a low point when it was revealed she placed the restraining order against him.

He said, “I started to spiral.” Colton continued, “I was f–ked up. … I lost my mind, and I did some things, I said some things that I’m not proud of.”

Colton also said he’s not making excuses for his past behavior. He knows stalking Cassie was wrong and takes full ownership for his mistakes.

Cassie has yet to comment publicly on the new series. However, sources close to her reveal that she feels she is being roped back into it all now the docuseries have been released on Netflix. They said she has bad memories of her breakup with Colton.

Colton and Cassie have both moved on and are both in love.
