When Will ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Season 31 Hit Our TV Screens?
Dancing With The Stars Season 30 just wrapped up for the year. But what can we expect from Dancing With The Stars Season 31? When will it air and who will join the cast? There are still so many questions that we don’t have answers to yet. But we do have a few clues, so just sit tight while we try to give our best guess.
Dancing With The Stars Season 31 will likely drop next fall
Before we see the next installment of DWTS, ABC has to renew it first. Word of that usually happens in the spring, although there hasn’t been a problem in the past before. However, Monsters & Critics notes that Season 30 fell 20% in viewership. Many seasoned DWTS viewers just don’t love the show without Tom Bergeron and felt that the overall vibe changed too much. There’s always a possibility that ABC may not renew the show. We’ll just have to keep waiting to see.
If they do renew the popular dance competition show, Dancing With The Stars Season 31 will most likely air sometime next September.
Keep in mind there is a lot of work that has to happen before the next season airs. The network has to find celebrity contestants willing to compete on the show, then contract negotiations have to happen. They also need to hammer contracts out with judges and pro dancers.
Right now, the pro dancers are gearing up to go on the DWTS tour. Not everyone from Season 30 will join, but a good number will. Reigning champion Daniella Karagach and her husband Pasha Pashkov are confirmed to be part of the touring cast.
Many fans were pleasantly surprised to see Iman Shumpert take home the Mirrorball Trophy with Daniella Karagach this year. NBA players never make it this far in the competition and it was nice to see someone with no dance experience win.
What will the cast look like?
If Dancing With The Stars Season 31 comes to life, you can probably expect Tyra Banks to still be the host. She also serves as executive producer on the show, so it doesn’t appear that she will go anywhere. All four judges seem to really enjoy their jobs and Carrie Ann Inaba even previously stated she has no plans to leave. They could all possibly return, but some speculate that Len Goodman will step down due to his old age.
Derek Hough, the youngest and newest judge, previously expressed issues with the judging system with four judges. Many fans also didn’t love the odd “tiebreaker” rule we saw this year, so it’s possible the network will go back down to three judges. Len could retire or Derek could be too busy with his other projects to come back for another year of DWTS. Anything could happen really.
As for the pro dancers, Val Chmerkovskiy said that Season 30 was probably his last. But it’s possible he will change his mind. Cheryl Burke toyed with the idea of retirement but said she would like to come back for another year. Witney Carson wants to expand her family and said she may be pregnant next fall but would have to play the situation by ear.
