Melora Hardin Felt The ‘DWTS’ Judges Gave ‘Random’ Scores This Week
No one wants to see their favorite Dancing With The Stars contestants go home. Many viewers felt absolutely certain that The Office star Melora Hardin would be part of the season finale, but sadly it wasn’t in the cards for her. She and her partner Artem Chigvintsev left during the double-elimination at the end of the semifinals last night. Suni Lee and Sasha Farber were the other contestants eliminated this week.
However, Melora doesn’t necessarily feel like the scoring was fair during the semifinals. Read on to see what she said.
Melora Hardin feels that the judges gave out “random” scores during the semifinals
During the semifinals, each contestant had to perform a redemption dance and one new routine. Melora and Artem performed a Rumba to “I Don’t Want To Wait” by Paula Cole for the redemption dance. Len Goodman, known for being the toughest judge, gave the pair a 10. However, the other three judges gave them lower scores. They ended up with a 36/40 for that routine.
“It didn’t feel as if they were judging our performance from who we are, what we came from, and how we performed tonight,” Melora told the press after the episode ended. “Instead, it felt as if they were almost making random choices. They said all these incredible things, but then the scores didn’t match the incredible comments they made, which was a bit disappointing and upsetting.”
Artem and Melora didn’t receive a perfect score from the judges, but they really feel like their performed to the best of their abilities and really deserved a 40/40.
“All the pros came up to me and said they’ve never seen a female celebrity dance the Rumba that beautifully,” the actress went on to say. “The Rumba is a really hard dance to do. It’s very technical but it’s got to be very flowy and sensual at the same time that it is incredibly technical.”
In post-episode interviews, Artem echoed similar sentiments.
The Office actress will remember this experience fondly
Melora Hardin’s time on DWTS may be over for now, but she definitely enjoyed her time on the show. She says she managed to lose 12 pounds during the rigorous rehearsals and learned a lot from Artem in the process.
“I gained so much from Artem, just the amazing dancing that he has made me do, helped me do, and helped me believe in and commit to and give in to,” Melora told the press. “Learning how to dance with a partner is so extraordinary. It’s unlike anything else. It’s a really fine line between learning to give in and be strong, but not rough, but not too soft. It’s such a very beautiful metaphor for life.”
After butting heads in the rehearsal room a few times, this is a really great thing for fans to hear.
