Hallmark’s ‘The Christmas Contest’ Is ‘Fuller House’ Reunion Starring CCB
What is a Hallmark Christmas movie without a little competition, especially between exes, to help save a charity? This is The Christmas Contest. Candace Cameron Bure (Fuller House, Aurora Teagarden), and John Brotherton (Fuller House, One Life To Live) star in this Fuller House reunion. If you are #TeamMatt, this is your movie!
In addition, Barbara Niven (Chesapeake Shores, Hannah Swensen Mysteries), BJ Harrison (Maid, A Christmas To Savour), Keenan Tracey (Devil In Ohio, Day Of The Dead), Doron Bell (Spinning Gold, Tipping Point), and Jennifer Higgin (Cranberry Christmas, Batwoman) also star in this Countdown to Christmas movie.
Here is what we know about CCB’s new RomCom that is based on the book by Scarlet Wilson
What Is The Christmas Contest About?
According to the Hallmark press release, business consultant, Lara (Bure) and retired baseball star, Ben (Brotherton) are in a fierce competition. They each learn that their local Denver television station is hosting a Christmas contest. Best of all, it includes a cash prize for a charity of the winner’s choosing. Both individually seize the challenge!
Lara is playing for the local senior center that her mom, Donna (Niven) attends. That place is badly in need of repairs. Ben claims that he’s in the contest to help a local youth sports team. However, he might be more interested in the press it could bring for his failing career.
On the first day of competition, they both show up not realizing the other is about to compete. Lara and Ben previously dated, and the relationship didn’t end well. Not well at all.
As the contest heats up with Christmas-themed challenges, our competitors realize they have far more in common than their love of Christmas. Now, Lara and Ben must decide what’s more important, winning the contest or finding true love.
