‘Yellowstone’ Prequel ‘1883’: Tim McGraw, Faith Hill Share Authentic Filming Details
Faith Hill recently shared that when she started filming the Yellowstone prequel 1883, she gained a lot of “respect for cowboys.” However, fans of the country music singer will certainly gain respect for her after learning what she had to endure to stay authentic to her character.
Starring alongside her husband Tim McGraw, as well as Sam Elliott and Billy Bob Thornton, this cast did not shirk away from doing anything uncomfortable. Instead, they lived like authentic cowboys.
Ready to learn what they went through?
Faith Hill Had To Wear Corset In Yellowstone Prequel 1883
Anyone who saw the Yellowstone prequel 1883 first look trailer during the Season 4 premiere got a sneak peek of the spinoff show. The prequel, 1883, is the Yellowstone origin story. This series is about James Dutton (McGraw), and Margaret Dutton (Hill), as they go from Texas to Montana on a dream.
Because this has been created by Taylor Sheridan, there are some authentic details that each actor needs to abide by. That includes Faith Hill wearing a corset while she rode a horse, western style. She told Entertainment Weekly that “Although it looks amazing, it’s terrible. I think I have a few ribs floating around in my body.”
She continued to explain the difficultly of filming. “This is real work. I was raised by Edna Earl and Ted Perry, and they believed the best way to teach a child was to get your hands in the dirt. That’s basically this in a nutshell. I think so many actors are drawn to Taylor’s writing because he is portraying the story in a way that was lived. I gained so much respect for cowboys.”
As for doing her business, she admits that she quickly became “quite comfortable” with the cast and crew. “You learn how to pick a tree, squat down, and do your business.” In a corset to boot.
Tim McGraw Got to Shoot Gun, ‘Proud’ Of Wife’s Skills
One thing is for sure when Tim McGraw filmed the Yellowstone prequel, 1883, he quickly gained a lot of admiration for his fierce wife. “To see my beautiful wife on horseback, firing guns, and having dirt all over her face, I just sit in awe. She’s a strong woman, anyway. Taylor said early on to me, ‘Man, you’ll just get on that horse. You’re not scared of anything.’ I said, ‘I’m scared of one thing. She’s right over there.'”
We will have to watch the series to find out if his character, James Dutton feels that same sort of admiration for his wife Margaret.
What Is Yellowstone Prequel 1883 About?
The Yellowstone prequel, 1883, is the story of John Dutton’s (Kevin Costner) great-grandparents, James and Margaret Dutton. This origin story follows the Dutton family patriarch and matriarch as they travel from Texas to Montana.
James Dutton, who “rules with an iron fist,” is pursuing his dream of the west. That eventually will become the cattle ranch, the largest cattle ranch in America. However, along the way, some patterns wind up repeating in Yellowstone. This new prequel will give fans more insight into the complex layers of the Dutton family.
Their western dream is to start the cattle ranch, which eventually becomes the largest cattle ranch in the United States. Like Yellowstone, this prequel is Taylor Sheridan’s creation. The authenticity and the details are well-researched and authentic.
The Yellowstone prequel, 1883 premieres on Sunday, December 19, on Paramount+.
