Netflix ignores Bachelor Nation petition to cut ties with former Bachelor

It’s been over six months since news came that Colton Underwood had teamed up with Netflix. The streaming giant revealed plans to document the former Bachelor star’s coming out as experience.

In April of 2021, Colton Underwood joined Robin Roberts on Good Morning America for an emotional and personal interview. The controversial Bachelor Nation alum publicly came out as gay for the first time.

However, he later revealed it wasn’t his choice to come out. Rather, he had been forced to do so after being photographed in a gay bar.

Shortly before his GMA interview, Colton was spotted filming with Olympian Gus Kenworthy. The silver medalist confirmed that the two were filming for a Netflix series with him as Underwood’s ‘mentor.’

However, some Bachelor Nation fans started a petition to get Netflix to cancel the project. Six months before coming out, Colton Underwood’s ex-girlfriend Cassie Randolph filed a restraining order. She alleged that Underwood had been stalking her.

Netflix remained mum on the petition, as well as the entire project. Now, some seven months later, they are finally revealing the fate of the project.

Colton Underwood living his life after coming out

Colton Underwood is well-known to Bachelor Nation viewers. The former NFL player first appeared as a suitor on Becca Kufrin’s season of The Bachelorette. After finishing in fourth place, he hit the beach for Season 5 of Bachelor in Paradise.

After not finding love on BIP, Colton Underwood was named as the lead for Season 23 of The Bachelor. He gave the franchise one of the most-talked about scenes when he jumped a fence after contestant Cassie Randolph decided to leave the show.

While producers coaxed Underwood back, he ultimately sent his final two women home and begged Randolph to continue their relationship.

However, the two ultimately split in 2020. A few months later, she shocked reality show fans by filing for a restraining order against him. The restraining order was later dismissed.

During his April GMA interview, Underwood blamed his behavior on struggling to come to terms with his sexuality. Since coming out, he’s been posting thirst traps on social media.
