Melora Hardin Reflects On Her Training With This Famous Dance Teacher
We all remember that one teacher that transformed our lives for the better. For Dancing With The Stars contestant Melora Hardin, that teacher is Patrick Swayze.
The Office Star Melora Hardin fondly remembers learning from Patrick Swayze as a young girl
Melora Hardin took lessons at Patrick’s parents’ dance studio and vividly remembers the day Patrick stopped by to show the young ballerinas some new dance moves.
“Patrick was so hot,” Melora confessed to Parade. “Literally, I’d been a ballerina, just ballet, ballet, ballet from the time I was 5 until Patrick came to our ballet studio. His sister was an amazing ballerina, and his mother was a teacher. And so, he came and taught jazz at our studio.”
The Office star and the other young dancers fawned over Patrick Swayze each time he arrived at the studio.
“He’d drive up on his motorcycle with his leather jacket and his tight jeans and he would saunter into class and all of us 13-year-old girls would swoon,” Melora remembered. “He was a wonderful teacher, a very kind man.”
Patrick Swayze met up with Melora again at the 1989 Academy Awards. She performed in a song and dance number during the show while Patrick presented.
“When I came off stage, I was like, ‘Patrick, you were my first jazz dance teacher.’ And he said, ‘Of course, I remember you.’ He’s just so sweet. And his wife Lisa, too, just the nicest, lovely, lovely people. So yeah, I have very fond memories of Patrick Swayze,” Melora continued.
The 54-year-old actress definitely retained a life-long love of dance. And it really shows during her time on DWTS.
Could this be the couple that takes home the Mirrorball Trophy?
Over the last several weeks, Melora Hardin and Artem Chigvintsev proved to be powerful competitors. The two definitely weren’t afraid to leave it all out on the floor during Queen Night.
The pair performed the Foxtrot to “Killer Queen” and received 9s across the board. Even though some fans really thought they deserved at least a few 10s.
During the relay portion of the night, Artem and Melora performed the Viennese Waltz to “We Are The Champions.” They secured two bonus points from judges Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli.
The pair have yet to get a perfect score, but they’ve come very close. They were the first couple from Season 30 to earn a 10 from a judge.
“Getting a 10 from Len was so exciting,” Melora told Parade after they earned their first 10 on Disney Night. “The fact that last night he said to me, ‘Don’t doubt yourself. You are a dancer.’ That was a beautiful thing to say to me. And then tonight, he thought it was a really wonderful performance. He felt like it all came together and that it was what it was supposed to be as a dance, so that was super exciting to me.”
