Cody Rigsby Wishes He Would Have Asked ‘DWTS’ For This Opportunity
Cody Rigsby is having the time of his life on Dancing With The Stars. But there is one thing he wished he would have asked for before his appearance in the ballroom. What is it?
As an openly gay man, Cody Rigsby really appreciates the strides JoJo Siwa made for the LGBTQ+ community this year. She chose to dance with a female partner — the first same-sex pairing in Dancing With The Stars history. However, he also wishes he would have asked the network if he could perform with a man. The fitness influencer recently admitted this in an interview with GLAAD.
“When the conversation opportunity came up for Dancing With The Stars, I was just so excited to be on the show, I guess I didn’t even think it was a possibility,” Cody explained in the interview. “So I didn’t bring it up. Had I maybe had a moment to breathe and recognize an opportunity, I definitely would have asked!”
Like many LGBTQ+ youth, Cody Rigsby experienced bullying
Today, Cody is out and proud of who he is. But he admits that he experienced bullying in his youth.
“At a young age, people started to call me a girl, and that was the first attack in fourth or fifth grade,” he continued. “That was the first thing I recognized as people bullying me and questioning who I am because of their attacks and insecurities. As gay kid, we are always made fun of because it is the easy thing to do for some people.”
But now, he’s keeping his eyes on the horizon. Cody and his partner Cheryl Burke are focused on winning the Mirrorball Trophy, but the Peloton has high hopes for the future too. He says he hopes DWTS will feature a male/male couple next season. Val Chmerkovskiy and Gleb Savchenko both said they would be open to it.

Horror Night promises some chills and thrills ahead of Halloween
It would be really fun to see Cody Rigsby compete with a man, but he and Cheryl Burke are doing remarkably well too. The pair contracted COVID-19 and had virtual performances for a while. And they’re still in the competition!
Tonight is Horror Night. Cheryl and Cody will dance the Cha Cha to “There Will Be Blood” by Kim Petras, inspired by American Psycho. Are you ready for a night full of spooky Halloween fun?
Don’t forget to vote for Cody Rigsby and Cheryl Burke if you want to keep them in the competition. There are only a few weeks left in DWTS Season 30, so they really need your votes!
Tune into Horror Night at 8 PM eastern time on ABC. You really won’t want to miss out on this episode.
