Whitney Way Thore Fans Go Off On Her Slang

Whitney Way Thore, has, yet again, caused a ruckus on social media. This time, fans are taking issue with the way Whitney speaks. Apparently, they do not like her slang word usage in her latest Instagram post. Read on to find out why the celeb’s followers are telling her she’s got it all wrong.

Fashion On The Mount

On Sunday, My Big Fat Fabulous Life star, Whitney Way Thore, shared a sweet snap on Instagram of herself and BFF Tal Fish. The duo is standing before a backdrop of gorgeous NC mountain landscape. The vibrant hues of changing fall foliage dot the hills behind them. Whitney and Tal are accompanied by Whitney’s furbaby, Goosie, who appears to be enjoying the excursion as well.

NC weather has started to cool, so the trio was decked in their favorite fall duds. Whitney’s fun fall look included black leggings and an oversized flannel button-down top that she wore open over a tee with the sleeves rolled to the elbow. Tal opted for a pair of comfy blue jeans, and a light wash, vintage-inspired denim jacket over a bright blue t-shirt. Of course, with Tal rocking a bald head, he opted to also wear a winter hat to help keep warm when the wind kicks up.

A true animal lover, Whitney also did her best to keep little Goosie warm as well. This super fashionable poodle pup was wearing a sweater and matching hat set. The TLC star tells fans who are interested where she purchased the set that the pup was wearing.

Fans Go Off On Whitney Way Thore Over Winter Fashion Word Choices

In her post, Whitney makes a joke about winter hats. She reveals that in “The South” people refer to them as “toboggans.” The celeb also says she is not sure how that lingo usage came to be. “And yes, in the south we call winter hats toboggans and no, I don’t know why,” she wrote in her caption.

Unfortunately, while many wouldn’t find a reason to take offense to such a harmless post, Thore’s followers on Instagram quickly found something to take issue with.

Whitney used the term “toboggan” to describe a ‘winter hat, ‘ alluding to the fact that that terminology was common usage in the area where she lives in North Carolina. Dozens of comments quickly started flooding the post as viewers rushed to disagree with her apparent slang usage of the word.

Many commented on the fact that they lived in close proximity to Whitney and had never heard the word toboggan used to describe a hat. Others argued that a toboggan is not a hat at all, but rather a wooden snow sled. The consensus seems to be that these hats are most commonly referred to as beanies in most parts of the states.

Do You Even Watch The Show?

At the beginning of Whitney Way Thore’s post, she jokes about the fact that she and Tal have had a ton of people tell them what a cute couple they make. Obviously, fans who watch the show know that Whitney is far from being Tals type – but they are very close friends.

The celeb’s latest post revealed that not all of Whitney’s followers on Instagram are avid viewers of her hit TLC show.

Over the last few months, Whitney has alluded on social media that she has been seeing someone. The couple has, however, chosen to keep their courtship out of the spotlight. Despite the fact that Tal has been on the show – many, many, times – commenters were quick to ask her if this was her new man.

Fans who were in the loop left comments saying they knew that the pair aren’t dating, but besties can be a beautiful ‘couple’ too!

“Well a couple means 2….& y’all are both beautiful…..so, they’re not wrong! #tobagganlife,” wrote one fan referencing the coupling commentary.  Some MBFFL fans even took the cliche route, commenting “Do y’all even watch the show?” in response to inquiries about whether Tal was Whitney’s new “Frenchman.”

So, which side of the toboggan argument are you on? Hat or snow sled? Let us know in the comments.  As always, Stay up to date on all things MBFFL right here on TV Shows Ace!
