‘Van Helsing’: Season 5 Netflix Release Date, What To Expect

What is Van Helsing
Van Helsing is a fantasy horror series by Neil LaBute. The lead, Vanessa Van Helsing is played by Kelly Overton (Legends, True Blood, Beauty and the Beast). The series also features Jonathan Scarfe (The Equalizer 2, Hell on Wheels, Into the West), and Christopher Heyerdahl (Togo, Hell on Wheels, Stockholm).
For viewers looking for something spooky to watch this Halloween season, Netflix describes the series plot as:
After three years on a coma, Vanessa awakens to a world ravaged by vampires. Now, sha and a motley band of fellow survivors fight to stay alive.
Why can other Netflix regions stream the series
Currently, the final season of Van Helsing is airing on Syfy. What’s on Netflix (WoN) notes that “Syfy content has generally stopped coming to Netflix.” This is because Syfy’s parent company is Comcast and they stream their content exclusively on Peacock. Luckily for fans, the fifth and final season is part of a legacy contract with Netflix.
Interestingly, Season 5 is already airing in other regions of Netflix. This includes Netflix UK, CA, and AU. Viewers in these regions have been able to stream Season 5 since the middle of July 2021. This early access may likely be in part because outside of the US, the fantasy horror series is marketed as a Netflix Original.

However, WoN reminds viewers how they’re able to predict the release of Season 5 to Netflix. It is because in the US market “all content that Netflix licenses from either NBC, USANetwork, or Syfy arrives on a fixed schedule.” When it comes to Syfy shows, Netflix releases them a year after the show’s first episode airs. With that in mind, it’s anticipated that the entire fifth season of Van Helsing will drop on Netflix on April 16th, 2022.
Unfortunately, Van Helsing won’t be on Netflix forever. Once the final season hits the streaming service, the countdown to remove it begins.
