‘Survivor’ Fan Favorite Rupert Dealing With Cancer Scare, Wife Asks For Prayers
Survivor fan-favorite, Rupert Boneham, is currently going through a serious health scare. The possible health crisis is so serious, Rupert Boneham’s wife took to Facebook to ask Rupert’s millions of fans for support. She asked Facebook users to pray for her husband during this uncertain time in both his and her lives.
Rupert Boneham appeared on Survivor in 2003. He was a contestant on the Pearl Island season. Despite the fans’ great love for Rupert, he was only able to finish in 8th place. Immediately, fans took to him and he was asked back for All-Stars. Later, the reality show’s favorite “pirate” was also a contestant in Heroes vs. Villains. Rupert and his wife, Laura Boneham, competed in Blood vs. Water.
Rupert Undergoing Serious Medical Tests
In a Facebook post, Laura Boneham explained that Rupert had been experiencing throat pain for some time now. Rupert had a scope done. That is when his doctors discovered uninvited cells in his left vocal cord. She also said that he would be going in for a biopsy and, possibly, surgery soon to rule out cancer of any sort. She asks fans and friends for “prayers and good vibes” during the scary times the Boneham family is currently going through.
Fans came through by sending kind words and support to the couple. Many fans said things like, “Sending love and good vibes to you guys” and “We love y’all”. Not only were fans there to support Rupert but so were other cast members of Survivor. Two-time Survivor contestant, Eliza Orlins, wrote, “Thinking of you both. Love you both tons! If that elephant didn’t kill him…nothing will.” This was in reference to The Amazing Race where there was an incident involving an elephant while they competed together. Ciera Eastin, who competed against the Boneham couple in “Blood vs. Water” wrote, “Sending prayers to you and your family!” Many other people close to the Bonehams left kind comments and words of encouragement as well.
More Than Just A Survivor Contestant
This is certainly a rough time for the 57-year-old Survivor favorite. As shocking as the news is for fans of Survivor, it must be even more shocking for his family. He and Laura have been married for twenty-two. They have one daughter named Raya. This has to be a shock for those who work with him at “Rupert’s Kids” as well as those who are helped through his charity. “Rupert’s Kids” is the non-profit organization Rupert created after being awarded one million dollars on Survivor, for children who are considered “at-risk teens.”
