Josie Duggar Treatment Wears On Fans
Josie Duggar is the youngest of Jim Bob and Michelle’s 19 kids. Many fans recall seeing Josie’s birth on TLC’s 19 Kids & Counting. For those who may not remember, Josie had a very hard start in her life. Michelle had preeclampsia, and Josie was born early. So, the baby spent a lot of time in the NICU.
Fortunately, Josie pulled through and seems to be a happy and healthy 11-year-old girl today. The family often shares new pictures of her and the rest of their kids, and fans are always shocked by how much she’s grown.
However, some fans are concerned that Jim Bob and Michelle treat Josie differently than they treat their other kids. So, why do fans think this, and what seems to be the problem?
Is Josie Duggar treated like a baby?
In an anonymous confession on the Duggar Bates Confessions page, a fan wrote, “I understand Josie is the youngest but they treat her like she is a lot younger than she really is. She’s almost 12!”
In the comments section of the post, many fans are agreeing with the sentiment. They think that Josie does get special attention and treatment because she’s the youngest of Jim Bob and Michelle’s kids. It could just have to do with the family’s lineup, however. One fan says, “It’s a birth order thing. I am the baby of my family. It was the family dynamic. My family always treated me like I was younger than I was.”
One fan offers a possible explanation, writing, “Not only is she the youngest and “the baby” of the family (my mom does this with my 24-year-old sister), she was also extremely premature (born 4 entire months early) which could come with developmental delays that they might choose to not publicize.”
One fan thinks that this might not be such a bad thing after all. Many of the Duggar kids have had to help raise their siblings, and some critics refer to them as “sister moms.” Because Josie is the youngest, she hasn’t had to do this, so she’s truly gotten to be a child. The fan writes, “I think Michelle just tries to hold on to having a baby / kid as much as she can. In the end Josie might profit of it because she never had to sister mom and actually receives a healthy amount of attention.”

Autism is not caused by advanced age of the mother. There is some evidence that advanced age of th father may be a factor. Down’s Syndrome is common in babies of very young mothers, as well as older mothers.
