Josh Duggar Jail Time: How Long Could He Spend Behind Bars If Guilty?
How much time in jail is Josh Duggar facing if he’s convicted in his child pornography case? As fans and critics know, the eldest Duggar son was arrested earlier this year for the possession of child pornography. As his trial draws closer, more details about his case have emerged.
For those who may not know, Josh’s trial is set for November 30. At this point, he has pled not guilty, and his wife Anna Duggar reportedly believes he’s innocent as well. Though she hasn’t issued a statement about her husband’s arrest, sources have said that she spends a lot of time with him at his guardian’s home. She was also recently spotted at his motion hearing.
For now, Josh is still innocent until proven guilty. Plenty of details have surfaced, and some people are already convinced he’s guilty. However, we won’t know for sure until his trial next month.
Amid the scandal, Duggar fans and critics have asked lots of questions about what’s going on. Naturally, they are wondering how much time Josh could possibly spend behind bars if he is guilty of the alleged crimes. So, what could a conviction mean for the former TLC star?
Josh Duggar Possible Jail Time Revealed
Josh’s specific charges include one count of the receipt of child pornography and one count of the possession of child pornography. As mentioned, he’s already pled not guilty to both charges.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Western District of Arkansas, Josh faces 20 years of jail time and up to $250,000 in fines. This applies to both charges, so, in total, he’s facing 40 years behind bars and up to $500,000 in fines.
Because Josh is 33 years old, he could be 73 years old when he gets out of jail. Of course, there is the possibility for parole too.
Josh’s lawyers have already claimed that they will be going hard to fight these charges. But only time will tell if they are able to get Josh a shorter sentence or no sentencing at all.
“Josh Duggar has been charged in a two-count indictment. He has pled not guilty to both charges and we intend to defend this case aggressively and thoroughly. In this country, no one can stop prosecutors from charging a crime. But when you’re accused, you can fight back in the courtroom — and that is exactly what Josh intends to do,” said Josh’s attorneys. The former TLC star is being defended by Justin Gelfand, Travis W. Story, and Greg Payne.

Hopefully he gets 40 years for everything he’s done but if he does you can bet he will start using all the good things his parents taught him to get out of jail early. At least his kids will be protected from him since his wife refuses to.
