Jill And Derick Dillard Share Heartbreaking Family Update
Former Counting On stars Jill and Derick Dillard are going through a difficult time right now. The couple opened up about a heartbreaking family event, sharing all of the details. In response to the sad news, Duggar family fans are sending prayers and encouraging words. So, what’s going on with Jill and Derick’s family right now?
In a blog post, the couple reveals, “We recently found out that we were expecting our third baby. We were all thrilled! It was fun to see so much joy in the boys’ faces as we shared the news with them. They were full of questions and so excited as we talked about the pregnancy and how they would get to be involved along the way and after baby was born. However, a few days later we started miscarrying.”
Jill and Derick currently have two sons, Israel and Samuel.

Also in the blog post, Jill and Derick reveal the name they gave to the baby they lost. They wrote, “Even though it was too early to tell the baby’s gender, we picked a name that we feel encompasses our baby’s significance and the life we will always remember: River Bliss Dillard.”

They go on to share more details, writing:
“One meaning for River is ‘tranquil’…and here in Arkansas, rivers are often a serene, beautiful escape in nature. We also like how the River talked about in the Bible (Rev. 22:1-5) represents God’s life-giving presence. The river of life (Holy Spirit), ‘flows from the throne of God,’ and with the tree of life is ‘for the healing of the nations.’ Our baby doesn’t get to live here with us on earth, but is forever with the source of the river of life, in the presence of the Lord! And we chose Bliss for a middle name because our baby is living in perfect bliss with the Lord and was such a gift that brought immense joy and happiness to us even though only with us here on earth for a short time.”
Duggar fans offer words of encouragement.
In response to Jill’s post on Instagram, the family is getting lots of love and encouragement from fans. Jill’s followers are commenting and saying that the family is in their thoughts during this time. Many fans have been in the same situation themselves and can relate to Jill and Derick.
Jill and Derick also created a short YouTube video about their miscarriage. The video features the couple finding out that Jill was pregnant, as well as telling their sons about the new baby on the way. It ends with Jill and Derick holding hands on the couch. They added a quote to the screen, which reads, “We wanted to give you the world, but you got heaven instead.” They also wrote, “River Bliss Dillard. Safe in the arms of Jesus October 2021.”
