Happiness for Beginners tells the story of 32-year-old Helen Carpenter. Having been divorced for a year, she finally allows her annoying, younger brother to persuade her to join a wilderness survival course. He believes the survival course will be a chance for Helen to pull herself together again. However, she finds out her brother’s equally annoying best friend is also coming along for the trip. For this reason, she cannot imagine how the trip will be anything other than a disaster.

The movie is being produced by Cranetown Media, which is behind a number of Netflix projects. As reported by What’s on Netflix, these include the 2020 film Uncorked and Alexa & Katie. Meanwhile, the movie will start production in late September 2021.
