Will The Spice Girls Reunite On ‘DWTS’ Season 30?
If you were around in the 90s, chances are you rocked out to the Spice Girls on occasion. Many Dancing With The Stars fans were absolutely ecstatic to learn Melanie Chisolm, also known as Mel C and Sporty Spice, would be part of the upcoming season.
Now, DWTS fans really want to know if we will see any sort of Spice Girls reunion on the show this year.
According to Mel C, anything is possible. Sporty Spice recently sat down with ET to discuss the possibility of a Spice Girls performance on the show.
We’re celebrating 25 years since the Spice Girls released their first album
Now is the perfect time to feature one of the famed Spice Girls on DWTS. After all, they’re celebrating the 25th anniversary of their first album, Spice, this year. Can you believe it’s been 25 years since “Wannabe” first hit the radio?
Mel C is hard at work in the rehearsal rooms, hoping to make fans and her former band mates proud.
“I feel very unprepared, in fact, it’s crazy,” Mel C told ET. “I had my first rehearsal yesterday and it was wild, because I have danced, you know, with the Spice Girls — we do our little dance routines. I danced as a kid. I did ballet, and it’s like, can you just forget everything you’ve ever learned? It’s so, so different. And all the styles have such different techniques, so I like a challenge.”
So what does this mean about a possible Spice Girls reunion?
“I really want to embrace that in the show, so it would be lovely and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we get spice action,” Mel C continued. “It’d be rude not to, right?”
How far will Mel C go in the competition?
Mel C isn’t the first of the girl group to compete on DWTS. Mel B, also known as Scary Spice, came in 2nd place back in Season 5. Rumor has it that Mel C will compete with Gleb Savchenko this year.
Gleb hasn’t won a Mirrorball Trophy yet, but there’s a first time for everything. Last year, Artem Chigvintsev took home his first championship. The year before that, Alan Bersten was a first-time DWTS winner. If this trend continues, Gleb could see his first Mirrorball Trophy.
But the competition will definitely be fierce this year. Many competitors in Season 30 have dance backgrounds, including JoJo Siwa. But even so, Mel C says the rest of the Spice Girls have been super supportive of her as she joins the DWTS cast.
“They’re all super excited for me, and they’re kinda, like, ‘You’ve gotta win!'” the singer shared with ET. “That’s a bit of pressure, so I was like, ‘I’ll do my best.'”
