Fox’s new upcoming comedy-drama series The Big Leap is a modern take on Swan Lake, while handling body shaming and bullying. The Big Leap is loosely based on a British reality series, The Big Ballet. The comedy-drama series tackles the current trend of body shaming while showing people breaking through despite the stereotypes. To do so, they change their lives by trying to participate in a modern rendition of the classical ballet, Swan Lake.

According to Fox’s synopsis, the series is about a group of “diverse, down-on-their-luck characters” trying to change their lives. They go on to enter a “potentially life-ruining” reality dance show, which is a modern reimagining of Swan Lake. Meanwhile, what these characters lack in the way of dance training, they make up for with their “edge, wit and desire” to reimagine an iconic story to fit themselves.

Who is on the cast?

The Big Leap features some familiar faces, with Scott Foley playing the role of Nick Blackburn. Meanwhile, Piper Peraba plays the character of Paula Clark. The character of Julia Perkins is played by Teri Polo.

Readers will likely remember Foley for his roles in Scream 3, Scrubs, Scandal and Grey’s Anatomy. As for Piper Perabo, she first gained recognition for her role in the film Coyote Ugly. Piper went on to play the lead role in the exciting series Covert Affairs for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe in the Best Actress category.

Other cast members on The Big Leap include Simone Recasner (Gabby Lewis), Ser’Darius Blain (Reggie Sadler) and Mallory Jansen (Monica Sullivan). Meanwhile, other cast members include Kevin Daniels (Wayne Fontainer) and Anna Grace Barlow (Brittney Lovewell).

As for those behind the show, the creator is Liz Heldens, known for writing and producing shows like Boston Public, Friday Night Lights, Mercy and Bionic Woman. Executive producers on the series are Sue Naegle and Jason Winer.

When does The Big Leap release on Fox?

Fox’s The Big Leap is set to premiere exclusively on the channel on Monday, September 20. Futon Critic reports that the comedy-drama series will air at 9 pm EST. It is possible to watch Fox on a variety of devices, including AT&T TV, FuboTV, Hulu With Live TV, Locast, Sling TV, Vidgo and YouTube TV.
