The Met Gala is Monday, September 13. Singer Dua Lipa was included in the shortlist. However, she is acting in her very first role. She is in the upcoming AppleTV+ Matthew Vaughn-directed spy thriller, Argylle. Will she still be able to attend the Met Gala?
According to TMZ, Dua Lipa will not be able to do both.

What is Dua Lipa missing out by filming Argylle and missing the gala? The Met Gala, “fashion’s biggest night out,” is the most coveted invitation in Hollywood. Who gets invited? The list always includes the fashionable, industry insiders, influencers, stars, and creatives. They all dress up in a theme. This is an opulent charity event. Stars frolic alongside the most iconic industry artists. Dua Lipa is certainly someone that would fit in this crowd!
According to Vogue, this year, there is a double theme. That is because the Met Gala was canceled in 2020. The first exhibit, “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion,” opens on September 18, 2021. This is at the Anna Wintour Costume Center at the Metropolitan Art Museum. In addition, “In America: An Anthology of Fashion” opens up on May 5, 2022. That will be on display in the American period rooms. Both will run simultaneously until September 5, 2022.

What Is Dua Lipa’s Role In Argylle?
Argylle is Dua Lipa’s acting debut. Not only will she be acting in the Matthew Vaughn movie, but she will also provide the theme song and other original music. Also starring in Argylle is Henry Cavill (The Witcher, The Tudors), John Cena (Psych: The Movie, Bryan Cranston (Malcolm In The Middle, Breaking Bad), Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World: Dominion, Rocketman), Sam Rockwell (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, Moon), Catherine O’Hara (Schitt’s Creek, Home Alone, Peacemaker), and Samuel L. Jackson (Pulp Fiction, Secret Invasion).
Not a lot is known about the movie, except it is a spy thriller. Based on the upcoming Ellie Conway book, this is the story of a super spy. If you are equating this to James Bond, you are correct in your thoughts. According to the director, “When I read this early draft manuscript I felt it was the most incredible and original spy franchise since Ian Fleming’s books of the 50s. This is going to reinvent the spy genre.”
They already began filming the AppleTV+ movie the last week of August. Although they filmed plate shots in Greece and the United States, the movie is being filmed in three London-area studios. There is a plan to make three movies in this franchise.

AppleTV+ will drop Argylle sometime in late 2022.
