Thirteen is an unlucky number for RHONY. This season hasn’t doesn’t well. Viewership is plummeting amid the ongoing racial conversation. Newbie Eboni K. Williams isn’t enough to keep viewers around. Meanwhile, others are sick of Ramona Singer. Meanwhile, she refuses to show up to the Season 13 reunion.

Because of that, the show is on a two-month hiatus, until producers figure out what to do with it. This comes amid the rumors that it could be the last season. Either way, it’s not looking good for the show. Fans want to know the future of the Bravo series that was once at the top of its game.

RHONY is on hiatus after the Season 13 finale

On Tuesday, August 24, a fan account announced that the show is on hiatus. The Real Housewives Franchise took to Instagram to write: “Season 13 of The Real Housewives of New York City will be on hiatus after next week’s finale episode. With the reunion still not filmed, which reports are claiming it won’t be filmed until mid/late September, RHONY will likely be on hiatus for about 2 months.”

According to the fan account, this decision was made due to the complexities of filming the Season 13 reunion. As previously mentioned, Ramona refuses to film with her co-stars. Something happened from the time that the cast last filmed together before the events leading up to the reunion. Since the reunion hasn’t been filmed yet, media outlets are claiming that it won’t happen until mid to late September. This means that the reality series will be on hiatus for about two months.

Those looking for a reunion won’t see it immediately air after the season finale. In fact, it might not even air until mid-October to allow time for editing. It’ll also need additional time for promotion and marketing. But with the plummeting ratings, could ruin the already faltering series.

Cancellation rumors are “BS,” says a friend of the show

David Yontef, the friend of the RHONY cast, addressed the rumors surrounding the future of the show. He claimed that the rumors are nothing more than just hearsay. The rumors first swirled on the notorious celebrity gossip Instagram account Deux Moi. He thinks the person who runs the mysterious account is causing trouble with the show’s legacy.

Yontef explained that “websites like that are so dangerous in that a lot of people believe what is written there and give life to ridiculous rumors and go down the rabbit hole.” He also shared that while the reunion hasn’t been filmed, next season isn’t set in stone. Yontef uses his podcast to share any news and updates he has on the franchise. On the Behind the Velvet Rope with David Yontef podcast, he spoke with cast members like Dorinda Medley and Luann de Lesseps.

The RHONY Season 13 finale airs Tuesday, August 31 at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
