Israel Dillard is getting ready to head back to school, as we previously reported. While his family was on vacation in Oregon, he picked out a new backpack. Now, Duggar family followers are pointing out that Israel’s grandpa, Jim Bob, may not be happy with his backpack choice.
Over the past few years, Jill Duggar Dillard has been figuring out who she is as she steps away from her parents’ beliefs. While she’s still a Christian and doesn’t seem to be anything shocking by society’s standards, she now leads a different life than she was used to growing up.
One of the decisions Jill and her husband Derick Dillard made is sending their son to public school last year. 19 Kids & Counting fans know that Jill and her siblings were homeschooled, so this is quite the change. As far as we know, Israel is heading back to public school for first grade, and this year, he picked out a dinosaur backpack.
What does Jim Bob Duggar think about dinosaurs?
On Reddit, the Duggar family’s followers are discussing Israel’s backpack choice and think that Jim Bob may not approve. Some Reddit users wonder if the Duggars believe in dinosaurs.
In the Duggar family’s religion, they believe that dinosaurs and humans co-existed. One user points out, “Isn’t it that they don’t dispute that dinosaurs existed, but they believe they coexisted with humans? So really, a dinosaur book bag is fine.”
Another user adds, “Yep, Jill grew up believing that dinosaurs are real. They just fit it in to their young earth ideology with dinosaurs living with humans and being on the ark etc.”
So, Jim Bob doesn’t necessarily doubt the existence of dinosaurs, but the timeline of their existence is debatable. But some other Christians think dinosaurs didn’t exist at all, which prompted the discussion.
Of course, it’s unclear if Jim Bob will even know about his grandson’s backpack. Jill has been open about setting boundaries with family members, which may limit how often her kids interact with Jim Bob and Michelle.
Israel and Samuel Dillard have been interested in dinosaurs for a while.
This isn’t the first time Jill’s kids have shown an interest in dinosaurs. Last fall, the family went on a backyard camping trip. In one of the photos Jill shared, Samuel is wearing a pair of “dino-snore” pajamas.
So, do you think Israel Dillard’s backpack goes against his grandfather Jim Bob Duggar’s beliefs? Are you glad to see that Jill and Derick Dillard are doing what makes them and their kids happy? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
