Thirteen isn’t a lucky number. RHONY could face cancellation. Ratings are plummeting and viewers are bored. They take back what they said and rather see drunken antics rather than conversations about race.

The Real Housewives of New York used to be one of the highest-rated shows out of the entire franchise. Now, that’s not the case anymore. Some fans deem the show “too controversial” after watching this season. Executives are fearful that they could lose their biggest moneymaker.

They might have no choice but to put it in its grave. It’s at risk of cancellation by NBCU. Some feel that the show is cursed and it’s too late to change anything.

Could this be the last season of RHONY?

This could be the end of RHONY as we know it. Earlier today, rumors swirled that The Real Housewives of Dallas could get canned. However, some feel that The Real Housewives of New York should be the next to go. Racism seems to be the overlying reason for both of these shows.

As TV Shows Ace previously reported, fans are not happy with the current debate on the show. Most of them called out Kameron Westcott and her husband Court for making racially insensitive comments. Fellow housewife Tiffany Moon accused Kameron of calling her a “Thai hooker.” This led to an intense social media war.

Now, RHONY is facing similar controversy. Fans are continually upset with Ramona Singer and her polarizing comments. Meanwhile, others blame Eboni K. Williams for sucking the life out of the show. Bravo is planning how to move forward after Season 13. However, that season could curse the entire show and remove it from Real Housewives history.

Some deem the show “too controversial” to move on. NBC may not have any other choice but to cancel it. Sources told Radar Online that producers postponed the reunion show twice. As of right now, there is no start date for filming Season 14. Currently, there are talks about shelving the show altogether.

Could end up on a permanent hiatus

This isn’t the first time that Bravo has put a show on permanent hiatus. The Real Housewives of Miami went on hiatus after its third season aired in 2013. The show will find new life on Peacock. The same went for The People’s Couch, which has no return date. The network has similar plans with RHONY.

“The decision about the show’s future is no longer in the hands of Bravo. After all the accusations of racism the decision has gone all the way up to the top bosses at NBC,” sources explained. “The gear is that the show is just too controversial now. Which is why there is talk about shutting it down until things cool off. The last thing they want to do is having this show poison the entire franchise.”

Producers are looking to fire Ramona Singer. Not only is she too problematic, but she’s also “too expensive.” Ramona reportedly refuses to film the reunion with her castmates. For now, the cast does not know anything about the future of the show.

The Real Housewives of New York airs at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
