Josh Duggar’s Search Warrant Released: How Was He Caught?
Josh Duggar was arrested a few months ago, and he’s now awaiting his trial in November. In the meantime, new information about his arrest and alleged crimes has surfaced. The newest details give more insight into how the former TLC star was caught.
As you likely know, Josh will soon go to trial for the possession of child sexual abuse material. So far, he’s claiming he’s innocent. He must adhere to a set of conditions and is now staying with a legal guardian. He may see his children with his wife Anna Duggar’s supervision, but he cannot see any other minors. Anna is reportedly on poor terms with Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar. She also thinks Josh is innocent and lets the kids be around him often.
Josh Duggar’s search warrant surfaces
Radar obtained court documents from Josh’s case. The source notes that Josh is claiming that the federal government will not turn over the evidence he requested. Josh’s defense is asking for the police reports from the investigation in Little Rock, Arkansas, as well as screenshots of evidence. The program used to search Josh’s devices should have given investigators a log, but Josh’s team still hasn’t seen the log, which they claim they need in order to build a defense.
The prosecutors write, “As with many cases based on undercover investigations of individuals sharing child sexual abuse material (‘CSAM’) over peer-to-peer networks, this case is straight-forward.”
Per the court documents, in May 2019, “Detective Amber Kalmer in Little Rock, Arkansas, used a law enforcement tool to download files depicting the sexual abuse of children directly from the user of a single Internet Protocol (‘IP’) address over the BitTorrent peer-to-peer network.”
The agency found “that the IP address was assigned to the defendant’s small used car dealership in this District at the time of the downloads and applied for a warrant to search the premises.”
They claim, “His motion represents nothing more than a request to embark on an impermissible fishing expedition for evidence that is either nonexistent, immaterial to his defense, or already produced.”
At this time, the judge hasn’t ruled. But it sounds like Josh’s defense is having a hard time getting what they think they need.
