Alison Sweeney Exclusive Interview Ahead Of Hallmark ‘Hannah Swensen’ Premiere
Sleuthers, are you ready for Hallmark’s Sweet Revenge: A Hannah Swensen Mystery? Alison Sweeney (Days of Our Lives) is back, along with Cameron Mathison (General Hospital), Barbara Niven (Chesapeake Shores), and Gabriel Hogan (Heartland). In addition, Hannah’s younger sister pops up! She is played by Tess Atkins (The Flash).
Alison Sweeney graciously answered a few questions about reuniting with the Murder She Baked gang. She also shared a little bit of information on her upcoming projects. They include Chronicle Mysteries, a 2021 Christmas movie, and The Wedding Veil trilogy. That project includes the dream team of Lacey Chabert (Christmas Waltz), Autumn Reeser (The 27-Hour Day), and Kevin McGarry (When Calls The Heart).
What Is Hallmark’s Sweet Revenge: A Hannah Swensen Mystery About?
According to the Hallmark press release, Hannah Swensen (Sweeney) and Det. Mike Kingston (Mathison) are now engaged! However, they are a bit slow in scheduling a date or even discussing their big day.
Moreover, now that Hannah has found another dead body, the last thing they are thinking about is a venue, cake, or flowers. Somehow, Hannah’s baked goods are in the midst of this murder investigation. But, Mike’s cantankerous boss is not too keen on a baker helping to solve the mystery.
In addition, Hannah’s younger sister (Atkins) pops into town. She is just in time, as Delores (Niven) is releasing a Regency-themed book. Hannah hasn’t had much time to sit down and read the book, but everyone else in town is finding it quite entertaining!
Finally, here is the exclusive TV Shows Ace interview with Alison Sweeney!
Exclusive Interview With Alison Sweeney About A Hannah Swensen Mystery
Alison Sweeney: Stepping into the role of Hannah is a bit like when I walk back onto set at Days as Sami, they both are a part of me now. I love the character of Hannah for her curiosity, her determination and her “no quit” attitude.
Alison Sweeney Exclusive Interview Continued; About Working With Cameron Mathison, Gabriel Hogan
You always have great chemistry with your male lead co-stars (such as Marc Blucas!) but in particular, you bring out a joyfulness and playfulness in Cameron Mathison. The chemistry is insane! It is especially true in Sweet Revenge. Any insights? Was it easy to get back into the Hannah-Mike romance?
Alison Sweeney: I think Cameron and I have a unique shorthand and trust with one another because of our shared background on soaps. There’s a bit of a bond and feeling of safety that comes with all daytime actors and I certainly felt that right away with Cameron. Having not worked together for several years, and with the story of this movie in particular, I think it brings out the best in our on screen chemistry.
You and Gabriel Hogan (Norman) also have amazing chemistry. I was thrilled to see him back in this episode. Norman seems to bring a lot of calmness to Hannah’s chaotic life, and he IS Delores’ favorite suitor. How does this speak to Hannah’s character that she has a deep fondness for Norman, but ultimately, Mike is her guy?
Alison Sweeney: Gabe is a fantastic actor and he does such a great job in the role of Norman. For Hannah, she appreciates the great qualities of both men but ultimately sparks fly more with Mike than Norman, at least for now.
Alison Sweeney Talks About Hallmark Co-Stars Barbara Niven, Tess Atkins
Barbara Niven is a Hallmark treasure. And your new co-star Tess Atkins was a fantastic addition! Do you have any stories about working with either of these two remarkable talents?
Alison Sweeney: I absolutely adore Barbara! In fact, she and I shared a house while she was working on the movie with me and we had the best time together. She’s hilarious and so incredibly thoughtful about her work and as a person. With Tess, I was really excited to introduce Hannah’s other sister to the dynamic and am so glad you liked her as well!
As a Jane Austen fanatic, you fulfilled a dream of mine to dress up in Regency-style gear. And, you had to do some running in that attire. Was it fun to play dress-up?
Alison Sweeney: I’m a fan of Jane Austen as well and of Outlander and other period pieces. It was so fun to dress up and more importantly, how handsome do Mike and Norman look in Regency-style looks?!?!
What Is Next For Alison Sweeney? Any More Hallmark Movies, Mysteries, Or Christmas Movies?
Will there be more Hannah Swensen movies in 2022? What about Chronicle Mysteries? And will you be in a Hallmark Christmas movie in 2021?Alison Sweeney: I’m getting ready to produce and star in a Christmas movie so I’m very excited to hopefully be able to share more on that one soon. We’re also working on more Chronicle Mysteries. For Hannah Swensen, I hope this is the first of many more and encourage our fervent fans to be tweeting and sharing their stories of watching the movie this Sunday to hopefully make that happen!
As a bonus question, and you do not have to answer this if it is top secret, but do you know when The Wedding Veil trilogy will be released? And can you share any information on your character there? This is going to be a remarkable movie with you, Lacey, Autumn, and Kevin! (and I suspect more!)
Alison Sweeney: I thoroughly enjoyed my time on set with Lacey, Autumn and Kevin! Can’t wait for the network to let us know when the movies will premiere and to share a bit more about my character as well. Stay tuned!
Be sure to watch the premiere of Hallmark’s Sweet Revenge: A Hannah Swensen Mystery. This airs on Sunday, August 8, at 9 p.m. Eastern, on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. Be sure to hop on Twitter and join the cast, Hallmark, and fellow #sleuthers, and talk about the sweet mystery.
