‘DOOL’ Vet Charles Shaughnessy Steps Into Mysterious ‘General Hospital’ Role
Soap fans can rejoice as Days Of Our Lives veteran Charles Shaughnessy is stepping into a mysterious role as part of the General Hospital. Outside of daytime soaps, the British actor has a pretty impressive resume with a lot of well-known credits to his name. His most noteworthy credit includes co-starring next to Fran Drescher as Maxwell Sheffield in The Nanny. Other credits to his name include The Magicians, The Bay, and Mad Men.

Soap Opera Digest was the first to report an exclusive confirming Days Of Our Lives vet Charles Shaughnessy has officially signed on as a new cast member of General Hospital. Unfortunately, the details of his character on GH are currently deep under wraps. So, what type of mysterious role the British actor might be stepping into is nothing more than fan speculation and theory at this point in time. The exclusive did confirm Charles Shaughnessy’s character would debut something next month on GH.
GH viewers are also looking forward to another new cast member
All My Children vet Cameron Mathison is also slated to be a new cast member on General Hospital. Unfortunately, the details of the role Cameron is stepping into has also been kept under wraps. That being said, fans have a pretty strong suspicion Cameron Mathison will be stepping into the recast role of Drew.
Now, Cameron Mathison stepping into the role of Drew is nothing more than rumor and fan theories at this point in time. But, it was a General Hospital script leak that revealed some of the details of what happened to Drew. Viewers of General Hospital agree the timing of the script leak and Cameron Mathison joining the cast is just too much of a coincidence for him not to be stepping into the role.
Where will Charles Shaughnessy fit into the cast?
Unfortunately, we really don’t know what plans the writers have for adding Charles Shaughnessy to the GH cast. As those who are familiar with the actor know, he has stepped onto the set of General Hospital once before. Back in 1984, he played the role of Holly Sutton’s con-artist cousin named Alistair Durban. While it is a bit of a stretch, it is possible he’s coming back to reprise that role. Chances, however, are much more likely that he’s stepping into something new.
