Fans of The Bachelorette know there is such thing as a villain edit and Thomas Jacobs got a big one this season. He had a lot of drama surrounding him after saying he’d thought about being The Bachelor.

Katie Thurston ended up letting him go and saying his audition for the lead was over. It was cold. The way the show presented him, it seemed his intentions weren’t admirable. Does Jacobs doesn’t regret his time on the show or anything he said?

Thomas Jacobs Said What He Said

Thomas Jacobs learned some men will throw you under the bus quickly to get a leg up in the competition. According to Bachelor Nation, while talking to Joe Amabile and Tayshia Adams on their podcast he said, he answered the question he was asked. Thomas said it was important to him to live his truth during his time on the show no matter what that looked like.

His castmates asked, “is the thought of being the Bachelor anything that crossed your mind.” He answered it had, and said he had. Thomas said later, “yes at some point in my life, I thought there was a possibility being on a show like this that you could become the Bachelor. And I also thought you could fall in love.”

He said becoming the villain took him by surprise. Some fans came to his defense, saying anyone in the franchise had thought about it. Competing with thirty other people, you have to look at all possible outcomes.  One fan said, “I stand with you! you were 100% honest and the other guys are not lol.” Another said, “All I see is courage, honesty, and positivity. Onwards & upwards.”

His Castmates Support Him

Mikey Planeta, another contestant on the show posted a picture with his boys. He defended Thomas. Mikey said, “remember you all only see the 1% of who these guys really are.” He said they’re great because he got to see the rest. Mikey posted, “go show my brothers some love. Yes, even big bad Thomas.”

Thomas also shared the picture with the caption, “A [sic] red head, villain and a virgin walk into a bar.” Several fans said, “I see no villain,” and chastised him for talking about himself that way.

As for Katie Thurston, she doesn’t regret being harsh with him. She told Nick Viall she didn’t like that he was unkind to Tre. She also said she wouldn’t trust him again. Fans know Thomas is one of the men making his way to Paradise. It will be interesting to see how that unfolds. Are you rooting for Thomas on the island? What do you think about Katie’s take-down?
