On Thursday, July 22, 2021, former Bachelor contestant, Lauren Luyendyk was hospitalized. According to her husband, Arie Luyendyk, she has been suffering from mastitis for a number of days. However, her condition has finally worsened, leading to her needing additional medical care.

Fans will remember that Lauren welcomed her gorgeous twins, Lux and Senna, around five weeks ago. However, it looks like keeping those gorgeous babes fed has caused problems for the former Bachelor contestant. Arie took to his Instagram Story on Wednesday to share an image of Lauren lying in bed. The photo pictured her in bed with a towel across her chest and the caption “Struggle bus.”

However, less than a day later, he shared a video of his wife lying in a hospital bed, with a caption, “Not good. Mastitis is getting even worse, even on antibiotics. Hate this for her.”

In his Instagram Story, Arie shared an image of what looks like a chest X-ray in Lauren’s hospital room. He wrote that she would be spending the night under a doctor’s supervision. Adding that she has been through a lot this week, Arie said Lauren will undergo IV antibiotics and scans for any abscess. He included an image of Lauren, seemingly sleeping in her hospital bed, accompanied by a crying face emoji.

However, readers can enjoy a happier image of the pair with Lux and Senna here.

What is mastitis?

According to the Mayo Clinic, mastitis is “an inflammation of breast tissue that sometimes involves an infection.” This inflammation results in breast pain, swelling, warmth and redness. The condition can also lead to fever and chills in some patients.

The importance of Lauren being checked for signs of an abscess is described by WebMD. According to them, abscesses are a complication of mastitis and are non-cancerous masses that are often tender and feel mobile beneath the skin.

Arie keeping upbeat for Lauren

While his lovely wife is obviously in pain, Arie seems to be keeping upbeat for Lauren. He posted a video showing blood cultures on a tray next to her hospital bed and he sounds in good spirits. While Arie hasn’t yet given details, it is hoped Lauren will be able to head home to the family on Friday.

Lux and Senna turned one month old on July 11, 2021, and both have been doing very well. However, they and their big sister Alessi must be missing their mom. Alessi has reportedly adjusted well to the arrival of her new brother and sister. She is even paying close attention to how Lauren and Arie care for the babies, which then reflects in how Alessi plays with her dolls.

We at TV Shows ACE wish for a speedy recovery for Lauren Luyendyk and a quick return home to Arie and the family!
