Katey Sagal Reacts To Cancellation, Rallies Fans To Save ‘Rebel’
Can fans and Katey Sagal save Rebel?
Katey Sagal and the cast of Rebel isn’t going down without a fight! She spoke out about ABC’s shocking decision to cancel the freshman drama after a handful of episodes. In true Annie “Rebel” Bello fashion, Sagal isn’t giving up.
ABC Cancels Rebel
May is a make-it-or-break-it month for many network shows. ABC, CBS, Fox, and NBC all start issuing renewals or cancellations for the next season. Earlier this week, ABC’s announcement sent shockwaves through the cast and crew of Rebel. Along with mixed-ish, American Housewife and Call Your Mother, new drama Rebel got the ax, per TVLine.
The show premiered just one month ago to much anticipation. The all-star cast includes Katey Sagal as “Rebel,” John Corbett as her current husband (Grady,) and Oscar nominee Andy Garcia (Cruz.)
Additionally, Garcia’s daughter, Daniella Garcia, plays Maddie on the series. Katey Sagal’s daughter, Sarah Grace White, appears as Jackie in one episode.

Rebel premiered in April. The show’s fifth – and final – episode aired on May 13. The episode ended abruptly with a cliffhanger. The cancellation announcement came just one day later, on May 14.
Katey Sagal Shares ‘Disappointment’ Over Decision
Katey Sagal’s most famous role is, of course, Peg Bundy on Married With Children. She’s also known for Sons of Anarchy. She currently plays Dan Conner’s girlfriend, Louise, on ABC’s The Conners.
Having a long career, Katey Sagal is likely used to the disappointment of shows ending. But the shocking cancellation of Rebel seemed to have hit her extra hard. She took to her Instagram to express her dismay over the news. Sagal doesn’t think the network gave Rebel a chance to find an audience.
She wrote, in part, “The abrupt announcement that there would be no season 2 based on the response from four airings came as a shock and a heartbreak.”

Katey Sagal Shares Petition To Save Rebel
While Katey Sagal and her co-stars are devastated, they aren’t giving up. She promoted a petition to save the show. The petition calls for either ABC to give it another chance or another network picking it up.
The petition already has over 8,000 signatures in just a few short days. Click here to sign the petition to save Rebel.
Hopefully, ABC or another network will listen and save the show. In the meantime, watch Katey Sagal on The Conners season finale on Wednesday, May 19.
