Joy Duggar & Austin Forsyth’s Parenting Choices Questioned Once Again
Joy Duggar and Austin Forsyth are often called out for their parenting choices. The young Counting On parents are questioned for their ability to raise their kids safely. The couple shares three-year-old Gideon and newborn Evelyn.
Counting On stars previously criticized for parenting choices
In the past, the couple has been criticized for how they raise their kids. Because they’re in the public eye, they’re unfortunately subject to all kinds of comments – good or bad.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, there has been a lot of talk about how the family is handling the guidelines. From what fans have been able to tell, it looks like the family is living their life normally. When traveling recently, Joy even let her newborn daughter sleep on the bare airplane seat without putting a blanket down for her to lay on. The family also doesn’t wear masks often, as can be seen on social media.
Joy Duggar & Austin Forsyth leave hunting rifle within son’s reach
In a new YouTube video, the couple documents their journey to pick up an RV. They drove several hours to pick it up, Austin spent time working on it, and then they drove home.
Prior to embarking on their trip to buy the RV, the family filmed for a few minutes as they got up and ready to go.
While the couple was discussing the trip ahead, a hunting rifle was visible in the background.
It’s no secret that several members of the family enjoy hunting. Austin previously shared an Instagram post when he went hunting. Fans and critics are taking issue with the rifle being within Gideon’s reach. It’s simply sitting on the kitchen table, which Gideon could easily walk over to.
In the comments section of the video, one viewer commented, “why is the rifle out on the table where little curious hands can grab it!!”
Joy Duggar & Austin Forsyth include disclaimer about co-sleeping
Co-sleeping is a parenting practice that’s heavily debated. Some parents are all for it, while others are against it. The main concern about co-sleeping seems to be the child’s safety.
In Joy and Austin’s video, Joy and Gideon go into the bedroom to get Evelyn up and ready to go. In the clip, Evelyn is sleeping in the bed. Because Joy knows co-sleeping is a controversial topic, she put a disclaimer up in her video, saying that Evelyn was only sleeping in the bed alone for a moment.
In another comment, a fan writes, “Ummm… I’ve coslept with all 4 of my children. There is a safe way to do it. Not to mention God trusted you to make the decisions for the kids you have! I find it sad that you even had to add a ‘disclaimer’ about her being in your bed!”
