‘Deadliest Catch’ Captains Warn ‘It’s Dangerous Everywhere,’ & Ask Fans To ‘Mask Up’
Deadliest Catch captains Sig Hansen and Josh Harris work the deadliest job in the world. Currently, the world is in the throes of the Covid-19 pandemic. So, what better people could the CDC find to promote mask-wearing in the new “Mask Up” PSA.
Deadliest Catch Captains Ask People To ‘Mask Up’
Covid-19 is not going away anytime soon, and now a cornucopia of variants. According to People, the Discovery Channel is now teaming up with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to help encourage fans to help control the virus. This means wearing masks, and a couple of Deadliest Catch captains are helping out.
Captains Josh Harris and Sig Hansen are starring in the new PSA. They want people to “mask up” and practice social distancing.
Captain Sig starts out the PSA with, “Being a ship captain means being prepared for anything.” Next, Captain Josh states, “We’re the ones responsible for making sure the crew makes it to port safe and sound.”
Next, the F/V Northwestern captain reminds people of their dangerous job, so they know what they are talking about. This pandemic is equally dangerous. “We have one of the most dangerous jobs on the planet — but right now, it’s dangerous everywhere.”
Subsequently, Sig lifts up his hand, holding his mask. He firmly states, “So when medical experts say to wear your mask to fight the pandemic, wear your mask.”
The clip is not over, because it is time for the CDC Deputy Director for Infectious Diseases, Dr. Jay C. Butler, needs to sum it up.
“Sig and Josh are right.” He then continues, “Safety comes first, and the best way to prevent the spread of COVID is to wear your mask. Mask up, America.”
Deadliest Catch Crew Quarantine Rules
For the Deadliest Catch fishermen, wearing masks and staying safe is not just for PSAs. They are taking Covid-19 very seriously. According to KUCB, there is a mandatory 14-day quarantine for the entire fleet. If they ever should leave their crab boats, everyone must wear masks.
Mason Twyman from the F/V Saga explained the consequences if they disobey the rules. “Hey, we’ve got to do the quarantine. We’ve got to do it right because if we don’t, there’s a hefty fine, and we can get shut down, the whole boat.”
Worst of all, he warned, “The whole business can get shut down right at the start.”

Will Jake Harris Reunite With Josh Harris For Season 17?
Deadliest Catch captain Josh Harris has posted a lot about his brother of late. It looks like Jake Harris will be back on their father’s fishing boat. Moreover, it looks as though the brothers will also be on the spinoff show, Bloodline. This is especially meaningful, as the show follows Captain Phil’s secret charts for fishing in Hawaii.
Discovery has yet to announce when Deadliest Catch Season 17, or Bloodline will premiere. Traditionally, new seasons start sometime in April. Therefore, that announcement should be in the next few weeks.
