Is Plathville Actually A Real Town?
TLC viewers enjoyed watching the Plath family on Welcome to Plathville. After watching two seasons of the show, fans are wondering if Plathville is a real place or if it’s only used for the show. Read on to learn more about the show’s title and whether it’s a real town.
Is Plathville a real town?
Though the show’s title may make it seem like you are entering a town with the same name, it’s not actually a real town. This has caused some confusion and has had fans asking about the real name of the town where the family lives.
Why is the show’s title Welcome to Plathville?
The show’s title might be confusing if you think Plathville is a real place. Since it’s not real, you may be wondering why the show has the title that it does.
Well, it’s because the show follows the Plath family. It’s almost like fans get to visit the family’s life on the farm.
The title could also have something to do with the family’s strict guidelines and beliefs. The way the Plaths live is unique and is interesting to fans. Viewers are immersed in the family’s bizarre lifestyle.
Where does the Plath family live?
Since the family doesn’t live in a town named after them, where do they live? They live in Cario, Georgia. Cairo is located on the Florida-Georgia state line. Cairo isn’t pronounced like the Egyptian city. It’s said like “cay-row.”
The family did live in their farmhouse for a while. But they eventually moved to a more suburban area. Now, their farmhouse is listed on AirBnB. The family’s new home is close to Ethan and Olivia Plath’s home, which is why Olivia talked about taking an alternate route whenever possible while on the show. Ethan’s family is at war with him and Olivia, so living close to one another doesn’t likely make things easier.
While fans of the show can’t visit the town, they can visit Cairo, Georgia. They can even stay in the Plath family’s AirBnB if they’d like to.
So, are you disappointed to learn that Plathville isn’t a real place? Did you know that the family lives in Cairo, Georgia, or did you think they lived somewhere else? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
