Yellowstone Kevin Costner

Season 3 of Yellowstone ended on a major cliffhanger. Fans watched as the Dutton family was attacked on all fronts. The Season 3 Finale ends as Kayce is being shot at in his office. Beth is blindsided as a bomb is set off blowing the windows out of her office. Rip is desperately trying to get to the Duttons as he learns Jamie is becoming the enemy. The screen turns black as John Dutton lies bleeding on the side of the road after being shot.

Fans are speculating as to what will become of the beloved Dutton family. The Season 4 Premiere will either bring heartache or joy. There will, however, most certainly be tears. Season 4 is to release this summer. However, TV Shows Ace has learned that Yellowstone may have some competition for one lead actor.

National Parks

ABC recently confirmed a pilot episode for a new series. Yellowstone icon, Kevin Costner, is writing the series entitled National Parks. The series is co-written by The Flash’s Aaron Helbing and author Jon Baird. Costner will write and executively produce the drama series alongside Helbing and Baird. Rod Lake, Ivan Cohen, Ken Halsband are executive producers from Territory Pictures. Barry Jossen and Tana Jamieson will executively produce via A+E Studios.

National Parks was formerly known as ISB. ISB has been in production for quite some time. However, ABC is revamping the series with a new title. National Parks follows a small group of elite national parks service agents as they solve crimes while protecting the nation’s parks. Even though the parks are popular for their grand beauty, they also attract an array of hardened criminals.

Kevin Costner commented on the series saying,

“Our partners at ABC, 20th Television and A+E Studios have given me a great environment to step out of my comfort zone and deliver something special.”

What Is To Come Of John Dutton?

Fans of Yellowstone may be worrying that the new series means the end of John Dutton. However, it is unlikely that Costner’s role in National Parks will have any effect on his role in Yellowstone.

In fact, there are many actors who have starred in more than one television series at a time. Friends actress, Lisa Kudrow, also starred as Ursula Buffay in Mad About You. Christopher Meloni spent several years playing both a lawyer as well as a criminal. He starred as Chris Keller, a sociopathic murderer, in the HBO prison drama Oz from 1998 until 2003. He did this while he also starred as Detective Elliot Stabler on NBC’s Law and Order: SVU from 1999 until 2011.

It is in fact becoming more and more common for actors to work on multiple projects at one time. Costner himself filmed the 2020 crime thriller Let Him Go while also starring in Yellowstone. Fans need not worry. We have not seen the last of John Dutton.
