Some My 600-Lb Life participants were able to shed hundreds of pounds. This led people to think that their married lives would improve. However, by reading these couples’ updates, a large amount of them end up calling it quits. Let’s take a look at the ones that stayed together and the ones that couldn’t make it work!

Fans may remember Zsalynn Whitworth, whose husband apparently enabled her terrible eating habits because he said that he liked “bigger women.” They eventually called it quits, and Zsalynn said it was because her husband no longer wanted to be with the “new” her. “I’m not buying you a salad,” he once told her, adding, “If you want to eat grass, you can go in the garden and graze.”
This seems to happen a lot after one person in the relationship loses weight. Some cite reasons for the separation or divorce is due to jealousy of their weight loss or even codependent lover that feels they are not needed.

Christina Phillips first appeared on Season 2 of the popular TLC show. When fans first met her, she weighed in at 700 pounds and ended up shedding an impressive 400 pounds! She stated that the weigh
t loss strained her relationship with her husband, Zach, “It became clear that me becoming independent from Zach was not going to work for him,” she said on the show.
During her “Where Are They Now?” special, she told viewers that getting a divorce was good for her. “In the beginning I had a lot of people doubt me,” she said. “I was in a really abusive relationship. And that definitely, I think, has had a negative impact on me.”
Another My 600-lb Life update
Who remembers Rena Kriser? She and Lee were a couple that found love at a weight-loss rehabilitation center. They both were addicted to food and decided to go on their weight loss journeys together. Lee started off at a whopping 714 pounds and Rena weighed 542 pounds. After a lot of drama together, they split but ended up reconciling as far as fans can tell. In June 2019, Rena updated her Facebook status to “in a relationship.” This made fans believe that she gave Lee another shot, according to In Touch Weekly.
Another relationship that didn’t work
Another one of Dr. Now’s success stories is Laura Perez. Although Laura (who now goes by the name Angelika) lost 300 pounds, her marriage ended soon after. On the show, she admitted that her husband Joey became “jealous” of her weight loss. Joey stated that after years of being her caregiver, he felt “pushed out” at her new independence. “The better I get, the worse my relationship is getting.”
