‘Battlebots’ Star, Faruq Tauheed, Pays His Respects To Baseball Legend Hank Aaron
Battlebots is in its 5th season after being rebooted in 2015. The robot fighting series has sparked interest in fans of all ages. Battlebots is a tournament-style combat competition. Competitors, often college robotics students, design and build destructive robots equipped with a variety of weapons. These weapons can include blades, launchers, and even fire. The teams battle it out in the arena until a champion is crowned. Battlebots airs on Discovery Channel every Thursday at 8 pm ET.

Faruq Tauheed
Each match battle is announced by Faruq Tauheed who has been the Battlebots announcer since the reboot in 2015. Faruq was born in Philidelphia, Pennsylvania on August 7, 1979. He is an American actor and host who has appeared in movies, television, and radio since 1998. Faruq made his movie screen debut as Willie in the 1999 Disney television movie, Selma, Lord, Selma. He would go on to appear in several television dramas such as Cold Case, NCIS, as well as New Girl. He can also be heard in the video games Mass Effect 3 and BioShock Infinite.
Hank Aaron
Hank Aaron faced racism in the eye and did not blink. He was born in Mobile, Alabama on February 5, 1934. Aaron grew up in a poor neighborhood and lived in a time when segregation to commonplace. Through all odd, he excelled in the sport of baseball and would go on to play for the Negro American League’s Indianapolis Clowns in 1951.
Aaron would then go on to sign with the Milwaukee Braves where he was assigned to one of the organization’s farm clubs, the Class C Eau Claire Bears. He once again excelled earning Northern League Rookie of the Year in 1952. He moves on and plays for the Milwaukee’s Class A Jacksonville Braves the following year. In 1954, due to an injury to another outfielder, Aaron made his Major League Baseball debut with the Milwaukee Braves.
Aaron would go on to make history when he broke Babe Ruth’s career home run record. He would spend 21 years with the Milwaukee Braves before playing his final 2 seasons in Atlanta. Aaron hit 755 career home runs holding the record for more than 30 years.
MLB inducts Aaron into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1982. The Hank Aaron Award is created in 1999 to annually honor the top hitter in each league.
Aaron left his mark on history in a powerful way. He sadly died on January 22, 2021 at the age of 86.

Faruq Tauheed, the announcer of Battlebots, recently expressed his gratitude for Hank Aaron in a post on Instagram.
“Thank you for your dedication and sacrifice.” says Faruq, “Thank you for your fearlessness and bravery. Thank you for the integrity, dignity and class in which you personified.
