‘The Bachelor’ Matt James Feels Anxious, Load Of Responsibility Ahead Of Premiere
It’s almost here! Season 25 of The Bachelor premieres Monday, January 4 on ABC. And, it’s a historic season as well. Matt James is the lead and he’s the first Black male to hold the role in franchise history. He’s excited and ready for love. But, he’s feeling a little anxious and feels a ton of responsibility on his shoulders taking on the role.

People shared all about Matt’s premiere and how he’s feeling. In a recent promo regarding night one, Matt says he’s a little anxious. No doubt he was very nervous going into night one. In fact, he knew very little about to expect. And, he admitted to Chris Harrison he’s never been in love. Plus, Matt didn’t even know what a rose ceremony was! Needless to say, Chris and producers had to walk him through his role and what he’s supposed to do.
But, back to night one, Matt has some amazing conversations with the women he will be dating. One woman says, I just couldn’t imagine myself doing this journey and this experience if it was any other person. It’s important to me to see diverse love stories because It’s not something I saw so much growing up as a child.”
Another contestant asked Matt how he’s feeling about his historic role. Matt said, “I feel a load of responsibility.” He continued, “But in that, I feel like my experience isn’t everyone’s experience. I can only go and speak on things that I’ve experienced and live out my truths and do the best I can to represent who I am and how I was raised.”

His race will play an important part in his future
Matt also went on to say he wants his race to play a positive part of his future marriage. He said, “Being a person of color, it’s important to me that someone knows what that’s like and embraces it, because that was part of who I am and it’s going to be apart of our relationship.”
It will be an interesting season to say the least. ABC cast Matt in June after diversity issues surfaced. He was originally supposed to be on Clare Crawley’s season of The Bachelorette. Clare and Matt had a Twitter falling out and then producers announced him as the new Bachelor.
Robert Mills has teased his season will be something new because fans don’t know Matt from another season. They don’t know his likes and dislikes so it will be an adventure for all to see. And, those who love spoilers may not be getting too many. With filming being in one location, Reality Steve hasn’t been able to break down the season like he has in the past. So far he’s not released Matt’s ending, but hinted he knows it.
Matt is absolutely adorable and also the best friend of Tyler Cameron. Fans can’t wait to watch Matt take this journey and hopefully find love. Don’t miss his season premiere January 4 on ABC.
