No one thought Young & Pregnant Season 3 was going to happen. So, fans of the MTV series were happy to learn the series was renewed a few months ago. Unfortunately, production of Season 3 has been stalled. And, it sounds like the cast of the Teen Mom spin-off is directly to blame.

COVID-19 exposure to blame for production stall

According to Monsters & Critics, we know Teen Mom: Young & Pregnant started production of Season 3 after COVID-19 hit. Like every other production set, the cast and crew took precautions to move forward. It, however, has become apparent not everyone on the cast has been as cautious as they could have been.

Production of the series has been stalled because three of the five girls on the cast were exposed to COVID-19. Unfortunately, there hasn’t been a lot of information released on which girls. Or, if anyone on the cast actually tested positive. Furthermore, exactly WHEN this took place or how long production has been stalled is unclear. But, most assume the stall because of exposure happened at the beginning of the month. After two weeks of quarantine, production would have halted soon after anyway because of the holiday.

So, assuming everyone tests positive and there’s no more exposure, it would make sense for production to resume after New Years.

Young and Pregnant isn’t the only Teen Mom series that has stalled

Some are starting to wonder if MTV lacks in proper safety precautions to keep their cast and crew safe. Teen Mom: Young and Pregnant isn’t the only series within the franchise to stall because of COVID. We know the production of Teen Mom OG stalled last month. This was after one of the cast members tested positive.

Allegedly, a cast member of Teen Mom OG broke their bubble and spent Thanksgiving with someone. Someone who tested positive for the virus. This resulted in several members of the production team also testing positive.

What we do know is the production of any MTV series is halted any time there is a positive test or confirmed exposure. Everyone has to quarantine for 14 days. And, all tests must come back negative before production can resume.

MTV hopes to present fans with 12 episodes of Young and Pregnant Season 3. Likewise, as far as we know, Kayla Sessler, Kiaya Elliott, Brianna Jaramillo, Rachel Beaver, and Ashley Jones are all expected to return for Season 3. The future or story line of Ashley Jones, however, is unclear. After all, she is slated to replace Chelsea Houska on Teen Mom 2.

Here’s hoping a new season of Young and Pregnant pops up sometime next year.
