Duggar Family Faces Backlash Over Christmas Parties: ‘Covid Much?’
The Duggar family has been holding festive gatherings recently. They seem to be getting into the Christmas spirit. First, they had a gathering for the ladies on Wednesday night. Then, they held their Christmas sweater party shortly after. On social media, they have been documenting these festivities.
On Wednesday evening, Joy-Anna Duggar Forsyth took to social media to share about the recent women’s gathering. She, her sisters, and her mom hung out in the afternoon. They had a Christmas-themed get-together. In her caption, Joy reveals that they made wreaths and enjoyed Chick-Fil-A while spending some quality time together. The pictures feature most of the Duggar sisters. Notably, Jill Dillard is missing, as she usually is from family events. Later on, Jana Duggar shared a few snaps from the evening as well.
The family also shared about their Christmas sweater party. This gathering was larger, as it included everyone in the family who lives in Arkansas. Once again, Jill wasn’t present.
The family wrote, “We had an absolutely wonderful time at our third annual Duggar Family Ugly Sweater Party!! 🎄Everyone went ALL OUT on their outfits, but John was the ultimate winner of the ugliest sweater!! 😄 We also did a white elephant gift exchange and had a baking competition. I think my sides still hurt from all the laughter and good food!! We even got some snow this weekend so it is really feeling like Christmas around here! ☃️ I love it!!”
Duggar family called out for Christmas activities amid Covid-19
Currently, there are guidelines in place to prevent the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. The rules vary by state and county, but most rules state that families who don’t live under the same roof should not gather. Masks are also encouraged.
In response to the family’s recent posts, they have been getting some negative comments from their social media followers. One writes, “Wow!!! Great example about what not to do!!!” Other similar comments followed.
Duggar family frequently under fire for ignoring Covid-19 guidelines
Since the pandemic began, the Duggars have been called out many time for not following the Covid-19 guidelines. The family doesn’t always wear masks in public. Additionally, they have been hosting plenty of gatherings. When the pandemic first began, they held a family night gathering, which included many members of their family. At the gathering, no masks were visible. They also recently had a fall festival. While the gathering was hosted outdoors, there were no masks in sight. Some of those in attendance aren’t a part of the Duggar family either.
Amid the backlash, the family is continuing to gather together. Some fans think that they should be able to do what they want to, but others point out that they are putting people’s health at risk.
