Below Deck charter guests and crew members called out the show for being scripted. This was a theory that was on fans’ minds during Below Deck Mediterranean Season 5. Some claim that former chief stew Hannah Ferrier was set up. As fans remember, bosun Malia White found unregistered Valium and CBD in her belongings, which led to her subsequent firing.

But one producer revealed in a profile to Vanity Fair that everything happened accordingly. However, viewers think the show is straying far from reality. Season 8 recently brought up claims that producers have more involvement in the show than otherwise assumed. Former charter guests and crew members came forward with recent allegations.

Former charter guest reveals producers requests

Below Deck Season 8 started with Charley Walters and his friends. Fans called them out for their over-the-top and demanding requests. They especially got uncomfortable when Charley requested that James Hough wore a Speedo during dinner. Charley claimed that the producers wanted them to act that way.

However, Captain Lee Rosbach and Chef Rachel Hargrove have disputed his claims. Just last week, UNLV quarterback Max Gilliam issued an apology for his behavior on the show. The athlete and his friend Dax Nittolo were the primary guests on the second charter. Their crew requested a nude model to eat sushi off of.

In his apology, Max revealed that eating sushi off a naked model was not his group’s request. According to him, the producers came up with that idea. Max expressed regret for following through with it.

Journalist Jemele Hill was a charter guest during Season 7. She sat down for an interview with comedian Leslie Jones, who is also a Below Deck superfan. During their chat, Jemele said that producers provided her crew with shots at the bar. She claimed that most of their behavior was brought on by the show.

Former Below Deck crew members share new claims

Earlier this year, Rhylee Gerber previously revealed that producers pushed her to share her boatmance with deckhand Tyler Rowland during Below Deck Season 6. But she wanted to keep the details of their fling a secret from the rest of the crew members. However, producers asked Rhylee to speak with one of her crew members about their hookup. So, she shared the details with Laura Betancourt.

As TV Shows Ace previously reported, Season 5 deckhand Bruno Duante made shocking claims about the show. During his appearance on the Behind the Velvet Rope with David Yontef podcast, he claimed the show was fabricated. He also accused the producers of getting him to hook up with Brianna Adekeye for a storyline.

Bruno also revealed that producers encouraged the drunken nights that the crew has. He accused the producers of pushing the crew to drink because it led to wild and crazy scenes. While Below Deck is scripted, it still has some semblance of reality, unlike most shows. But these claims are shocking considering the producers claim to not even speak to the crew members.

Below Deck airs Monday nights at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
