The twist? The stars must navigate a series of challenges and obstacles through landmark and beloved Disney attractions and locations, including the Haunted Mansion and Cinderella Castle, in an attempt to restore the holiday magic that was stolen by famed Disney villains Maleficent and Evil Queen.
And as they compete for the grand prize, proceeds will be donated to Toys for Tots, a nonprofit organization that delivers hope and the magic of the holidays to less fortunate children.
In the preview clip we meet the masters behind the scenes
Director Art Spigel says: “Disney’s holiday magic quest is the ultimate wish fulfilling all night scavenger hunt through Walt Disney World and the Magic
Kingdom. So we have two different teams of Disney stars who go on these quests, and the parks are really amazing because they allow us to do things that have never been done before.”
Milo says: “This whole quest is the Evil Queen and Maleficent have basically stolen the holiday magic and it’s Kylee and me and Pearce and Ariel’s job to get it back.”
Executive Producer Evan Weinstein worked on The Amazing Race and uses that experience the scavenger hunt.
He says: “I worked for many many years on The Amazing Race. You don’t want these things to be too easy, there’s always an obstacle people have to overcome and feel like they’re victorious. There is a magic key hidden within this kingdom, find it before dawn and you’ll restore your precious holiday magic.”
Spigel adds: “Another incredible challenge they get to go on is they get to go inside the Haunted Mansion and actually walk through the ballroom in the attic
and what they have to do in there is kind of find clues find different elements that will help them set a perfect table for our ghostly guests.”
Noting the influence the crews had from other shows, Spigel adds: “We did work very closely with the Disney Imagineers and the people of parks we also worked with the ATS team, they’re the team that put together the American Ninja Warrior challenges and and they’re really amazing at building the engineering testing all the games going through the facility …and making sure this is fun but also safe at the same time.”
