Why Did Lauren Duggar Almost Have A C-Section?
Josiah and Lauren Duggar welcomed their daughter Bella Milagro to the world in November 2019. But, due to production time, the birth special is airing on TLC’s Counting On on Tuesday, August 11. The latest episode will feature the young parents preparing for Bella’s arrival. Plus, her arrival is on the show.
Before getting pregnant with Bella, Lauren had an early miscarriage. Though this was tragic for the newly married couple, they appreciate Bella so much more now. They are thankful to have a healthy baby girl after their loss.
Lauren Duggar almost needed a c-section
In a preview released ahead of the new episode, Lauren talks about her difficult labor. The young mom was in labor for nearly two days and had two failed epidurals. Her contractions weren’t very close together, so she was given Pitocin. While this is typically given to people to induce labor, Lauren had it to help her through labor.
Michelle Duggar and Jill Dillard were coaching Lauren through her labor. Michelle has had 19 children herself, and Jill is a midwife. So, they were able to help Lauren out, especially when things got tough.
Dad-to-be Josiah was by his wife’s side the whole time. He explains, “We’re really hoping this works or Lauren will have to have a C-section.”
Michelle encourages her daughter-in-law, “You’ve done fabulous.” Similarly, Jill says, “You’re doing it, Lauren. You’re almost there.”
Lauren says that she isn’t sure if she can do it “much longer.” Fortunately, the Pitocin kicks in. Lauren says, “I just remember thinking, Lord protect this baby.”

Josiah and Lauren loving parenthood so far
On their shared social media account, Josiah and Lauren share frequent updates about Bella. Of course, Duggar fans love to see new pictures of her. They think she’s adorable, and they also think that Josiah and Lauren are great parents. In a recent post, the couple writes, “Being parents has been the sweetest, and one of the most rewarding things we have ever imagined.”
