‘RHOC’ Star Kelly Dodd SLAMMED For ‘Colored Photo’ Caption on Her #WomenSupportingWomen Challenge Post

The Real Housewives of Orange County star Kelly Dodd is under fire again.

If you’ve been on social media in the last few days, you’ve noticed a lot of women posting black-and-white selfies. The hashtag #challengeaccepted often accompanies the photos. Some women go further and show their love for #womensupportingwomen. The purpose of the challenge isn’t quite clear. Some skeptics think it’s just an excuse to post a cute photo. Others vaguely mention a connection to the femicide happening in Turkey, per In Style.

Regardless of the reason, many Bravolebrities are taking part, including RHOBH’s Kyle Richards and Pump Rules star Katie Maloney-Schwartz. The reactions to those photos were a mix of positive and negative. However, Kelly Dodd’s entry into the ‘challenge’ did not go over well with followers.

Kelly Dodd Posts ‘Real Colored Photo’ For #WomenSupportingWomen Challenge

RHOC star Kelly Dodd decided to take the #womensupportingwomen trend in a different direction. Rather than posting a black-and-white photo of herself, Kelly shared a photo of a group of women. She also chose to keep the photo in color instead of changing it to black-and-white.

Both of those gaffes could be overlooked but fans zeroed in on her ill-advised caption. “Here is a real colored photo of women empowerment!!,” she wrote alongside the photo. Needless to say, fans were not here for Kelly’s ‘tone deaf’ behavior.

Fans SLAM the RHOC Star For Yet Another ‘Tone Deaf’ Post

Kelly’s Instagram followers had a lot to say about the photo. Some of the 1,300+ comments were positive. But most of them absolutely dragged Kelly on several different fronts.

Some felt posting a colored photo was disrespectful to the purpose of the challenge. Other fans noted that the photo included only white women. Kelly has faced criticism in the past for her racially insensitive behavior.

However, several fans questioned the caption’s reference to the “colored” photo. As readers likely know, “colored” is an outdated way of referring to a black person. Given Kelly’s past, fans thought it was a poor choice of words and weren’t willing to give her the benefit of the doubt.

The post renewed calls for Bravo to #firekellydodd. Ever since the network’s firings of four stars from Vanderpump Rules due to racially insensitive behavior, fans have demanded more accountability. They feel that Kelly’s comments about the coronavirus pandemic, among other comments, makes her firing long overdue.

Andy Cohen said in early June that “more firings” were coming, but nothing has been done about problematic Bravolebrities such as Kelly Dodd and Pump Rules’ Jax Taylor.

As of right now, Kelly is still very much a part of the upcoming Season 15 of RHOC, which is currently filming. Check back with us for updates on when Bravo will air the new season of The Real Housewives of Orange County.
