What in the world is going on at Days of Our Lives? Days after Greg Vaughan (Eric Brady) confirmed his exit from the sudser, another actress announces her departure. And this one may not bode well for DOOL’s target younger audience.

Victoria Konefal Announces She’s Leaving Her Role as Ciara on Days of Our Lives

Victoria Konefal has been on DOOL since 2017 when she began as Ciara Brady. The legacy character is, of course, the daughter of Hope Brady (Kristian Alfonso) and Bo Brady (Peter Reckell.)

Kristian Alfonso is also on her way out. She gave a statement to fans earlier this month that she won’t return when the soap resumes production in September. Peter Reckell left several years ago and Bo is soap-dead. Despite Ciara’s core family no longer on the show, reps tell Deadline that Kristian’s departure had no bearing on Victoria’s.

Unlike Kristian, Victoria says she would like to come back to visit, but not as full-time. By contrast, Kristian has said that she doesn’t want to be boomeranging in and out of Salem.

Online Chatter About Victoria’s Exit Began Weeks Ago

Days of Our Lives has fallen victim to more than their share of rumors this year. A widely reported story from TMZ revealed that the soap “fired” the entire cast. While there is some grain of truth in that, it’s not the entire story.

The actors were “released from their contracts” temporarily while the show was on hiatus. Well before the coronavirus shut down television production, DOOL was on break. This was due to the fact that they film six months in advance. That filming schedule actually worked in their favor once COVID hit because the other daytime dramas eventually ran out of new episodes. Not DOOL. They have new episodes well into October.

One of those episodes will be Victoria Konefal’s last as a full-time cast member. DOOL will resume production on new episodes on September 1. But it will be without Kristian, Greg, Victoria and several other cast members.

Chandler Massey and Freddie Smith (Will and Sonny) have confirmed that they are also leaving the show. Rumors from months ago has Galen Gerig (Rafe) also leaving, though he has yet to confirm.

A soap podcast host, Alan Sarapa, teases that more exits are coming. According to his sources, there will be nine exits total before the mass exodus is over.

Rumors persist that Camila Banus is on her way out as Gabi. Time will tell if the rumors are true or not. The rumor of Victoria’s exit ended up being true.

At the end of her departure statement, she writes, “Cheers to some of the best days of my life..” You can read her full statement at Deadline.

Days of Our Lives airs weekdays on NBC.
