Pride Month and inclusivity

For those people unaware of the history of Pride Month, Forbes wrote an article. They noted that these days people celebrate the month with joy, festivals, and happiness. But years ago, nobody celebrated. In fact, they drew a parallel about old Pride problems and the current riots. In the late 1960s, the outlet reminds readers that police raided a same-gender bar. Back then, days people actually got arrested for same-gender relationships.

Maybe The Little Couple mom taught Zoey all of this already. But not everyone knows the roots of Pride Month. This time, when the police went into the bar, some named “Marsha P. Johnson cried ‘I got my civil rights!'” Then they “threw a shot glass into a mirror.” A huge fight ensued and them later, riots began. The rioters “broke windows, set cars on fire, and injured three police officers.”  The police ended up “barricading themselves inside the Stonewall Inn.”

LGBTQ riots led to change

Later, after word spread, the riots spread and it went on for days.  The media coverage revealed the human side of the rioters. People realized that those in the LGBTQ community also deserved the same rights. These days, people use the hashtag #LoveIsLove in honor of that. It certainly looks like Dr. Jen Arnold makes sure that Zoey knows and understands all about Pride Month and the reasons for celebration.
